Miraki Shavette & Dovo Blade Holders

Thanks, I'll give the Dovo blades a try. Have you tried the Tondo TSS 3 blades - made in Germany, Dovo perhaps?

Miraki Shavette & Dovo Blade Holders

RE: Miraki Shavette I have one of those. I've only ever used it with Miraki blades - they don't seem to be the sharpest, and perhaps I should look out the green and red blade holders and have another stab at it.

    Semogue SOC

As Sezer74 says, the knot is very different to something like an Omega 49, or even the posher 31064 for instance. It seems much more densely packed and displays a very pronounced mushrooming after a couple of uses.

OK, so after a week of daily use face-lathering, I'm almost tempted to say that this is the boar to get as a first and only boar. I'd say that >80 of the tips are split, backbone is still there but lather retention has probably doubled. Whilst the later retention is not yet quite badger levels...

    Which Slant?

I much prefer the Ikon DLC slant over my 37C. As had been mentioned before, the audible feedback lets you know when you're on song.

    New brush help

I've had an EJ silvertip - not very densely packed, soft and did a wonderful job with creams (after about 300 uses it started to shed quite rapidly and the the knot fell out).

erasmic in a bowl - melt and pour?

Depends on the shave stick - the one on the left of the bowl is the traditional tallow formula with the red holder, the one to the right of the bowl is the same formula as the bowl.

The SOC has a shorter loft than my 2000, but a taller handle. Now to the good stuff. Well, I soaked the brush for 10 mins in luke warm water and did a couple of palm lathers with some RSC cream, a good rinse and towel off before putting the brush in the airing cupboard for an hour. After an...

    Semogue SOC

Received one today. Not tried it out yet so will report back accordingly. Considering how much it cost for a boar I'm (to put it mildly) slightly underwhelmed by the size of it - looks smaller than my 830, tiny compared to my 2000. It had better perform!!! The plus side is that it doesn't have...

    feather as-d2

I have an AS-D2 that I use in rotation loaded with Polsilver I's. I find it gives a good, but mild shave with a narrow sweetspot. However, I personally don't like the supplied handle - it just doesn't feel good in my hands - and consequently have it handled with a Tradere.

    Haslinger Schafmilch

Ordered couple of Haslinger soaps yesterday (sandalwood and the calendula) - interested to see how they perform. I used to really rate MWF when I was living in Manchester, but now I'm using Thames water I'm not liking the stuff. May have to offload my stock.

polsilver super iridium back in stock

Thanks for the heads up on the Polsilvers - just stocked up. Given ramping up of sanctions on Russia I wonder if we're going to go through a Russian blade drought at some point in the future?
