Greetings

Tuesday 31st July 2012
Prep: Shower
Razor: Schick Type I
Blade: Modern PTFE Coated
Brush: Vie Long 13061M Horse
Soap: Füme
Aftershave: Nivea Sensitive Balm

What a world of difference a modern coated blade makes. My first attempt at shaving with this razor a couple of weeks ago had to be abandoned because of the awful 1950's Eversharp blade, which at the time was all I had.

No problems at all this time, I like the razor. I did notice it was important to watch the razor angle; letting the handle drop seems to allow the safety guard to mask the blade.

A really nice smooth shave, no hint of tenderness. Another SE razor that I like, in fact I have yet to try one I dislike!

Regards
Dick

You don't _need_ anyting more than a razor like this, but where would the fun be in that :D

Yesterday I picked up a shaving brush, soap dish and razor stand (still sealed) from a local charity shop for £1.75. It's a nice little set and all my razors except the Progress fit in the razor handle. I unwrapped the unbranded 35g soap that was included (sealed) in the black plastic bowl and it smells and performs just like Mitchell's Wool Fat. Result! Used this with my Gillette Contour with the Wilkinson Sword Profile cartridges that arrived this morning. Proraso pre/post shave cream as my post-shave.
Good result. Not a DE-beater but a nice enough 'change of pace' combo as Dodgy would say.

This afternoon:

Prep: Face wash, Imperial Leather bath soap, cold
Razor: Kropp 6/8", black horn scales, restored by UKRob
Brush: Simpson Commodore X3 in Best
Soap: Trumper's West Indian Limes
Aftershave: Prof Blighty's Yellow Ginger

Later:
Scent: D R Harris Arlington

As good a shave as I have ever had or hope to have. Cold water throughout.

Proraso Pre/Post (Original formula)
Ikon S3S
Dorco 301 (2)
Simpsons Tulip T1
L'Occitane Cade shaving soap
Nivea Replenishing balm

Nice little scrubby brush tonight and a hefty razor made short work of two days growth. After Dodgys thread on cream or soap I finished tonights shave convinced there can't be anything better than this soap…until tomorrows shave of course!
