SOTD w/c Sat 11th - Fri 17th Feb. incl.

How would you compare the Kai blades to Feather's own?

This morning:

Prep: Face wash, Imperial Leather bath soap
Razor: Feather Artist Club RG (wood), Pro blade (7)
Soap: Taylor's Jermyn Street
Brush: Neep #1033 soapstone 24mm high mountain badger
Balm: Trumper's Skin Food, West Indian Limes
Scent: Penhaligon's Blenheim Bouquet
Result: tediously superb.

Not actually tedious. Actually superb. Nothing but net.

Tuesday Night

Pre: Hot Shower
Face Prep: Johnsons Baby Oil
Razor: Merku Futur
Blade: Gillette 7 o'clock SharpEdge yellow (3)
Brush: New Forest Super Badger
Soap: Nannys Ice and a Slice
Balm: NIVEA After Shave Balm

Really smooth shave and no nicks, best shave yet. :icon_razz::icon_razz::icon_razz:

I've been working on moisturising my face as I think it was quite dry. I usually shave in the evening, and use the NIVEA balm now, I also use the NIVEA Moisturiser in the morning. I have been using a bit of baby oil pre lathering up as well and that seems to be really helping the razor glide across my face nicely.

I got some Nannys soap today and used that for the first time, it lathered up really well. I like the menthol in it, reminds me a lot of Ingram.

First time using a really old blade. Don't know how old exactly but over 80 years as this is the thick 3 holed blade. Bit dubious about whether to use it but was a pretty good shave. Used an Old type razor, of course with Boots cool shaving cream

Wednesday

Hot shower
Proraso pre/post
Mitchell's Wool Fat
Gillette Aristocrat Jr.
Wikinson Sword (3)
Alum & Witch Hazel
Real Shaving Company ASB
Pinaud Vanilla

Three passes and touch up, BBS results. Nice!

Still have no bathroom to speak of, so going retro with kitchen sink shaving and a scuttle.

Vulfux "the strand" boar brush
Wade scuttle, (commemorative Nelson edition)
Penhaligon blenheim bouquet soap
Ikon bulldog razor with Lord L5 head
Seven o'clock yellow (2)
Proraso post shave white stuff
Proraso AS

Mild shave from a mild razor head, satisfactory but will no doubt have shadow by mid afternoon.

Need coffee.

Wednesday 15 Feb

Gillette Slim with 7 o'clock Black
Edwin Jagger pure badger
vintage Crabtree & Evelyn pour homme soap
Alum
Armani Acqua di Gio ASB

DFS, but had a couple of weepers as I haven't used this razor in a while.

Tuesday

Vitos supercrema
Le Tuft badger
Gillette Superthin
BRW Bull Mastiff with a NEW head
Barbershop bay rum

Wednesday

Cella
Le Tuft badger
Gillette Superthin
BRW Bull Mastiff with a Tech head
Barbershop bay rum

Couple of thoughts.

I'm not sure if the thought of the open comb scared me a bit and nudged me in to action, but I really concentrated on my lather and came to the realisation I've been neglecting this part of the routine for a while now. The result was a corker of a lather for both shaves.

The NEW head gave a nice close shave, no real issues but I took my time and concentrated. The Tech head, as expected, gave a quick mild shave without any issues.

After the usual 1-2 minute hot towel prep:

Marshall Fields badger
Stahly-ABC/Wilkinson Light Brigade (NOS)
TGQ Leatherneck SS used as a stick
Malizia Vetyver AS
Malizia Vetyver EdT

Great shave as usual with this frankenrazor combo. The old Wilkinson blade still going strong after four uses...really a sharp and smooth old thing.

BBS results,

Martin

R41 & Dorco
FS finest 26mm
Palmolive stick
Santa Maria Novella pre/dopo barba

I shave daily now, have to with the new job actually. Flying to Shanghai on Sunday, and most likely will take even less shaving gear with me. Two more months there and then -hopefully- back here with a permanent place to stay.

This morning:

Prep: Face wash, Imperial Leather bath soap
Razor: Feather Artist Club RG (wood), Pro blade (8)
Soap: La Toja stick
Brush: Neep #1033 soapstone 24mm high mountain badger
Balm: Bulldog
Scent: Penhaligon's Blenheim Bouquet
Result: very good

Not quite as great as the previous couple, but a very quick (in a hurry), close and damage-free shave.

Wednesday:

Merkur HD 34c
7 o'clock Green ss
Semogue 1460
Nanny's Lavender soft soap
Acqua di Parma colonia

Not the best lather I've ever made. I still haven't mastered the 1460 - it can be a finicky little fella.
