Really nice smooth shave. I'm really enjoying this razor ATM. The dual head is a bit of a gimmick but it works surprisingly well.

Sunday

Following a beasting at the rowing club this morning:

Hot bath
Proraso pre/post
Arko soap - strong scent as we all know, doesn't bother me and the performance is great
Gillette Aristocrat Jr. - love this little beast
Wilkinson Sword (1)
Alum & Witch Hazel
Real Shaving Co. ASB
Pinaud Clubman

Three passes and touch up, great shave, very smooth. Haven't used the Wilkinson Swords much but found them great in this razor.

Prep: Hot shower
Brush: Simpson, Polo 8
Razor: Wade and Butcher, for barbers use
Soap: Provence Santé
AS: Old Spice, Fresh Lime
Strops: Neil Miller
Result: Very, very clean :D

I love this razor, it has pitting, it has been to buffed and it has been cut/shortened - BUT it shaves like Sweeney Todd :D

After the usual 1-2 minute hot towel prep:

vintage Marshall Fields badger
1958 Executive/Wilkinson Light Brigade (NOS)
IK SS used as a stick (really excellent soap)
Barbershop Bay Rum AS
Floris 'Santal' EdT (thanks hissingskunk)

As of yesterday I was all set to use the #15 this morning, but then I got a package late in the afternoon. It was a small lot of assorted old DE and SE blades I'd won, mainly bidding on em for the Wilkinson Super Sword types. Included in the selection turned out to be a 10 pack of some (according to Squire at SMF) genuine Light Brigade blades. Ohhh, that made me smile and I hadda try one today in my control razor. Yep, the wrapper and blade matched up with his great pics in his review.

Well, it's only one shave so far, but man, I really like the blade. Very smoooooth and quite forgiving while still being pretty darn sharp. Performed about as good as the Super Sword and maybe better, but it's too early to tell for sure. I'll need to try it in a few more razors to see what's up, but I'm very optimistic.

The Institut Karite soap is a top performer in my rotation. At one time it was all I used for months on end. Post shave skin care is a standout with this product.

BBS results,

Martin
