SOTD w/c 4th - 10th Feb. incl.

Monday

Decided to mix it right up today. Instead of big brushes, we going small brushes and the soap that I just couldn't get to work, I'm going to be giving it a good shot.

Razor: DE89 barley
Blade: 7 o'clock yellow
Soap: MWF
Brush: Simpson Keyhole 2.

After about 4 goes, I can get a usable lather from MWF. I find it just lacks a little slip but I think I need to add a bit more water and work it with the brush a bit more.

Due to this increased action with the brush, I've found smaller brushes are better.

If the lather stays like this, I may mill this pick of MWF with a Palmolive stick. The post shave feeling of this soap is great so for now, it's worth chasing a perfect lather.

Monday

Wilkinson Sword blade
Omega Boar brush
I Coloniali Mango Soap

Speick AS Lotion

Seamless transition to the Slim from the FatBoy with possibly superior shave resulting; lather a little thin after the TOBS experience of recent weeks.

This morning:

Prep: steam
Razor: Feather Artist Club RG (wood), Pro blade (1)
Soap: Cella
Brush: Neep #1033 soapstone 24mm high mountain badger
Balm: Bulldog
Scent: Penhaligon's Blenheim Bouquet
Result: pretty much perfect

As close as I ever get to a smooth neck, comfortable and secure and not too slow. I'm not sure I'll ever get perfectly BBS on the neck with my sideways growth pattern, but this is more than close enough, and in every other way is exactly what I wanted straight shaving to be like.

The brush is glorious, though after the super badger monster it feels small :).

Tuesday:

Hot shower
Mitchell's Wool Fat
Muhle R41
Feather (3)
Alum & Witch Hazel
Pinaud Vanilla
Nivea Replenishing aftershave balm

3 passes, WTG, XTG x2. Another great shave with this razor. DFS, nearly BBS. Great start to the day.

After the usual 1-2 minute hot towel prep:

vintage Marhall Fields badger
Aristocrat #15/Wilkinson Super Sword (NOS)
IK SS used as a stick
Wilkinson AS Lotion
Floris 'Santal' EdT (thanks dizzydrunk)

Second shave with this beauty, this time using a Wilkinson blade. No idea if it's the blade or my technique, but this morning the razor felt much more comfortable. Heh, a couple small weepers on my chin going ATG, but I chalk that up to hubris more than anything else. Left myself with one of those squeaky close shaves.....very nice!

Makes me wanna use this set up a bunch more before returning it to hissingskunk.

BBS results,

Martin

Tuesday

Schick Dial Adjustable Injector
Schick Blade
New Forest 2201 Brush
Palmolive Cream
Clinique Post Shave Soother

Taking things nice and easy on my post-pox face with "that'll do" shaves. Back at work today, which is good as I have shaken off the Chickenpox, and bad as, well, I'm back at work!
