SOTD w/c 4th - 10th Feb. incl.

gem open comb micromatic
shavemac #25 silvertip
supermax ultimate 3 shaving cream
boots no7 post shave recovery balm
ogallala bay rum with sandalwood AS

a close shave but felt a tad rough around the neck. first time its ever felt like this with the gem, dont know whether it was because i used a new blade and it was a duff or first time using the cream, or maybe it was just one of those shaves...

Merkur Futur 3, 2, 1 with Ladas Super Stainless
TOBS Almond cream
Professor Blighty's cedarwood and clarysage balm

First try with a Ladas blade. Not bad. No tugging going against the grain on my problem areas and got it fairly close in the end. Pretty smooth too. I always give my first ever try with a blade a good run and I must have done five full passes to gauge how good it is even against the grain. I think this blade is pretty good!

Saturday Evening

Prep: Hot Shower
Nivea For Men Face Wash
Razor: Merkur Futur with Gillette 7 o'clock yellow (2)
Soap: TOBS Sandlawood Soap
After: TOBS Shaving Shop Aftershave Gel

Lathered in a bowl for the first time, got a much better lather, and was easier for lathering the face for the second and third passes.

Managed a very clean shave today, the technique is definitely improving. I might get brave and change the setting on the Futur to a bit more aggresive than 1.

Saturday:

EJ black badger
T+H 1805 cream
Muhle R41
7 o'clock green (1)
DR Harris "pink" aftershave

Poor shave. Feels mega smooth, but it was uncomfortable. Don't think I'm going to get on with this razor somehow.

Saturday
Semogue 610 brush/Jeremyn Street SS/Merkur Bakelite with Astra/Weleda Balsam
P1230618.jpg

This evening:

Prep: Hot shower
Razor: Feather Artist Club RG (wood), Pro blade (8)
Cream: Palmolive
Brush: Neep #1059 soapstone 26mm super silvertip badger
Balm: none
Result: superb!

Only my second use of the Palmolive, as the first didn't impress me - I suspect I used too little product and too little patience. This was much better, a really good useable lather if olfactorily uninteresting. Two passes in the new-this-week sequence with neck half-pass polish to finish, smooth and comfortable and effortless.

This stuff makes a perfect test lathering cream (effective but not joyous), and so I did three brushes - my new high mountain Neep (in service from Monday), the Vie Long horse that has yet to make me happy, and the miniature Vie Long horse I'd not wetted before. I will give the horses another shot eventually; the Neep is already more than ready for prime time. Rod's work is, as ever, beautiful.

I think that it's the same. This came in a wood open cup. But same composition: stearic acid, aqua, coconut acid, potassium hydroxide, glycerin and fragrance. This cup it's 170 gr.

EJDE89
Gillette 7 O'clock Yellow

Excellent head and face shave, didnt overdo the cold water rinse though today :)

Cream: YArdley London (from India :))
AS: Blue Floid + Tiger face lotion (cold here now)

Result: Very, very clean :D

First time with this cream ... very good cover and nice texture, but I would like more slip from it, however it was the first time and I could have been off some re technique.

Sunday

Trumpers sandlewood soap
Kent BK8 Brush
EJ 89L Razor
Superthin Blade -5
Alum
Old Spice AS Classic

Nice relaxing 3 pass shave very smooth now for nice relaxing snow free walk enjoy your sunday

Saturday

Merkur 38B
Gillette 7 O'Clock Yellow (4)
TOBS Lavender (sample)
Vie Long Horse Hair Brush
GFT Lime Skin Food
TOBS Jermyn Street Cologne

Pretty crap shave due to rushing. I wouldn't normally push a blade to 4 shaves, but I was that pushed for time, I didn't really have time to even change it. Didn't prep properly either.

Finished off the TOBS Lavender sample, which to be honest I never expected to like, but it was OK. I doubt I'll ever get a full size version though, still too many others I prefer.
