SOTD: Saturday 17 September - Friday 23 September

Wednesday's shave? Indeed it was Wednesday yesterday, so yesterday's shave (Wednesday's shave) arrives here presented with the theme, 'Wednesday's shave'

Wednesday's razor - Ikon B1
Wendy's blade - Polsilver Lodz
Windy brush - Wee Whiskey Barrel
Wanda's soap - Extro Arancia
I Wannabe nice 'n' soft - Simple moisturiser

'I agree Maud. Great to dance to, but what a shit song'

'But I'm not dancing Ernest. This is crabs for you'

No body lice here, but what I do have is the return of the King. And a welcome reappearance of King Ikon of Shaving Cabinetland. All hail the blade holding bit.

The usual brilliance delivered in a smooth manner from the ever faithful Ikon. My top dog in the pack? To be Carlsberg about it, probably. A fifth outing for the Lodz which to be honest is quite an achievement for these blades, in a similar ilk to a Feather lasting much beyond the first shave. Shaving bed provided by the Jaffa flavoured Extro (Note to any children who may be reading. Not for human consumption) and the chief whip courtesy of the Gentleman's Groom Room and some discarded Whiskey barrels.

A whirl of brushes, soap and blades and one of the closest comfortable shaves imaginable. Given my imagination, that doesn't account for much. But big happy bunnyism.

Hope everything is well for everyone and glad to read pjgh is on the mend. Take care all.

Even better though. The latest release from those pretty damn fine ladies, Band Maid

Shaving recipe for today.

Prep: Warm shower:/Asda Mandarin & Lemongrass Extract Shower Gel.

Pre:
Cold wet flannel to my face.
Pears with Mint Extracts Transparent Bar Soap.
Brush: Lider Turkish Boar.
Face Lather.
Lather: Arko Shave stick.
Razor: Gillette Guard. (D4)

Post:
Cold water face wash with brush squeezing's, Cold Water Face Rinse. / Alum Rub. / Cold water rinse. / Gummy Traditional Turkish Lavender Cologne. / Arko Cool ASB.

Greetings,

Early Morning Shave,

An excellent Turkish themed shave to finish my shave week off wonderfully.

Something I've learned since becoming a traditional wet shaver is if I had used a shaving brush, shaving soap / cream method, instead of gel when I shaved with Cartridge razors for all those years my shaves would have been 100% better and more enjoyable as back then, shaving was something i hated having to do with a great passion.

I haven't used my alum block in my post shave for some time and was a good post shave application with hardly any zinging and stinging.

I've been taken by surprise how well the Gillette Guard has performed throughout the week.

An enjoyable 2 pass + pick-ups shave with no errors to report. Finishing the shave off with a few small dollops of Arko Fresh ASB.

My face is feeling smooth cool & smelling divine. ;)

Keep safe and enjoy your day ladies & gentlemen.

Absolutely, I look at my snapshots and think that's crap. I look at a @Digimonkey photograph think that's a quality photo.
I have realised photos are more composition than camera. I have a decent camera but take snapshots, had a trip to Fort William, took loads of pictures only about 5 or 10 turned out to be decent.
Yea I have an eye for shite.
I agree. I have a professional camera but have won photo competitions with my iPhone. It’s all about composition and lighting. I shoot all my SOTD on my iPhone for convenience. Funnily enough I was at Fort William a couple of weeks ago.

Razor: Yaqi Excalibur
Blade: Kai Captain Titan Mild Pink SE, 1st use
Brush: DS Cosmetic Ken Surfs
Bowl: PAA Intergalactic Travel Scuttle
Preshave: PAA Cube 2.0 Soap
Soap: Mitchell's Wool Fat Puck
Aftershave: Fine Barber Blue Aftershave
Balm: Proraso Blue Balm
Additional Care: Shave Tunes Courtesy Of An Old School Rockabilly Playlist
Additional Care: Wife Sniff Test = Not Too Bad At All

Continuing with the SE rabbit hole thread the Yaqi Excalibur arrived yesterday. This shows that YMMV to perfection. First shave with it and it was very enjoyable. It may be blasphemy to some but I prefer it to the Colonial General already. Obviously the fit and finish of it is not as good but for me it shaves me much better and easier. Angle was very intuitive and it was as smooth as a porn stars ass.

It was everything I expected the General to be and more. Two tiny weepers which stopped with cold water which I am putting down to a new blade in a new razor combo.

Everything else I am keeping the same while experimenting with the SE stuff so it's my most dependable soap which is the fat.

First run out with the Ken Surfs brush. To be honest I am not a face latherer so the one part of shaving I can't get excited about are brushes but it seemed to work okay.

Cella red again today but this time with the SOC cherrywood. As I binned the Nacet yesterday I thought I may as well get the Tech out for today so I loaded a fresh 7 o'clock Permasharp green. Great pairing of blade and razor as you'd expect. A very comfortable and smooth shave. I could have got away with WTG/ATG and pickups but I went for the full 3 anyway as I knew there would be no irritation. Bio oil and Tabac to finish. A good start to the day.

I am really enjoying my injectors this month, today was no exception, i find the J1 very comfortable to use with just enough efficiency for me.
Right then, Get the car down to the garage for its MOT .
Stay safe and enjoy your day all.

Thursday

Without the smell of another splash looming large and a good dose of the Stirling British Leather, I can see why this became a popular staple for men post shave in the 70's.

My only issue today is that my mind was elsewhere whilst shaving. I didn't realise that when I dried the razor yesterday, I'd taken the dial up to full, i.e. 8 (interpolated setting). Mind elsewhere, highest setting, too much pressure and the top of a small mole on my left cheek disappeared and was replaced by a 2mm circle of blood! Whilst I finished my shave, it just pissed out more and more. My wife saw it and in typical fashion nowadays was like, OMG!! . It's but a mere pin-prick darling, now let me sort it out!

Alum may have it's detractors but it's managed the job today, although it did take about 5 or 6 attempts of a good 30 second rub. The splash finished it off and I can't really tell what I've done, apart from the fact it's still stinging. All hail Alum!

Have a good Thursday and stay safe, especially from yourself if you're like me today!
