Proraso pre- and post- shave cream
Palmolive cream
Merkur Progress on 2 with Schick Krona (9th shave)
Professor Blighty's Universal Shaving Balsalm (lime)

Ok, the first pass wasn't very close. This blade has been through a lot of passes, especially as my touch up pass is more like buffing till I get as close as I can to BBS without getting soreness (and I sometimes overdo that). The second and touch up passes were much better. I think if I do tomorrow's first pass with a new, sharper blade the Krona could still give me a satisfactory 10th shave! I know a lot of people would be skeptical of what I've said but it's true for me.

Anyway, my newly acquired cased-with-blades Fatboy will be tomorrow's razor

Tuesday:

Vitos pre-shave
Professor Blighty's Harlequin soap
Omega silvertip
Aristocrat Jr
Astra SP (3)
Pinaud Vanilla

Another cold water shave, more great results.

After yesterdays shave with the Super Speed there was lots of dead skin on my face

This on my face tells me that the Super Speed has indeed scraped my face up, so from now on it's nick name will be "the potato peeler" ! When you've finished laughing your ass off.....

this mornings shave
20120529215.jpg

Dove soap/Hot face cloth prep( a little more than usual to get the dead skin off )

1946-1950 Fat Handle Tech, Gold Plated
Feather blade
Taylor's Sandlewood Shaving cream
Kent BK2 Brush
Geo.F.Trumper Sandlewwod Skin Food to Finish.

I usually shave with the bathroom door shut, but this morning I left it open, the smell of Sandlewood from the Taylor's is pritty strong, and buy the time I had latherd up for the first pass,
the wife had poped her head in the door, for a sniff and said"I can smell you from the front room"
BSS WTG
Allways a pleasure to shave with a tech, with a feather blade in, Smooth and effortlessGood times,
Shame about the Red blotches on my face thanks to the Potato Peeler:mad:
Bad times
And I see the nasty cloud's are moving in.....by, by, sun.

No time to have my 2nd go with the walkabout straight this morning. I even skipped lathering.

EJDE89L with Wilkinson Sword (2)
Cowshed Bullocks smooth shaving cream (brushless)
RSC balm

Needed to be quick this morning so I tried this brushless cream I was given at Christmas. Plenty of slip, not much cushion. Anyway it allowed me to get a very quick nice comfortable DFS. 1 small nick on my chin that I think was down to rushing and perhaps the lack of cushion. You do use a lot more cream this way.

What's this? Martin with a modern device called a camera! Actually puting photos with his post........

Tuesday 29th May

Hot shower and facial scrub
3P Pre/Post shave cream
Kai Captain Excelia (japanese style)
HJM Black Fibre Synthetic Brush
Ogallala Bay Rum and Lemongrass Soap
Alum Block
Pashana Bay Rum mixed with Rosehip oil
Brylcreem Original

Post night duty shave. I am pushing the Feather Super pro blades further than I used to. Technique must be improving. I used to bin them after 5 shaves...but after a slight modification of technique......I have just completed shave 8 , with more miles left! The Ogallala soap is amazing.
An excellent 2 pass (with touch up) shave.

This morning:

Prep: Face wash, Imperial Leather bath soap, cold water
Razor: Feather Artist Club RG (wood), Pro blade (3)
Brush: Simpson Tulip T2 in two-band Super
Soap: Prof Blighty's Rosewood
Aftershave: Prof Blighty's Rosewood
Scent: Trumper's Sandalwood

So I tried the cold water method this morning for the first time since my DE days months ago. Really that only affects the face wash and the final rinse; I soaked the brush in hot as usual, though it didn't feel all that warm in the face lathering. I did dip in cold for extra moisture as I built the lather. I don't use any water at all during the shave unless the lather dries out, even to rinse the blade.

Cons: that first wash is a shock, and would be brutal on a cold morning.
Pro: very pleasant on a day like today, and I'm nearly sure it was closer. Of course observer bias is a problem, but it felt markedly closer on my neck then usual (where I can't quite get cue-ball smooth with a straight) and still feels closer than normal for now, twelve hours on.

Will continue the experiment.

Forgot my plan to try the Ingram, and glad I did, as it was bloody cold in the car roofless with the morning cloud!

Martin is being worryingly quiet.

Did you think my head mighta exploded?

Oh, don't think I haven't seen your post. At least Ainslie was kind enough not to put up any pictures (thank you).

I'll tell you Paul, right now I'm getting some amazing shaves with both my Executive and Stahly head/Weber long handle frankenrazor. If I wasn't extremely happy with the performance I'd probably be a bit more motivated to grab a Weber.

We'll see how long that feeling lasts,

Martin

Heh, just for the hell of it, I did happen to look at the Weber site yesterday.......sheesh.
