SOTD w/c Sat 26 May to Fri 1 June

After the usual 1-2 minute hot towel prep;

vintage butterscotch Made Rite badger
Aristo #21/Schick Plus Platinum (NOS)
Klar Kabinett SS
Lucky Tiger AS and Face Tonic
Knize 'Sec' EdT

Got out the #21 today after those first few shaves with it last week. Second time using the soap and I whisked it a little more than yesterday, just to see what was up.

Man, that first downward stroke wasn't so hot. Felt more aggressive than I remembered it being, but I finished the first pass anyway. Before starting the second pass I thought maybe it was a lather issue or else maybe the blade went south from being left in the razor for a week.. So I switched to my go to set up first, just to check the lather. Turned out to be just fine.

Heh, then I was gonna change the Aristo blade, but that perfect everyday combo I was using just felt too wonderful to stop. Sheeesh.

I will try the #21 tomorrow with a fresh blade and see what happens.

Man, this soap is pretty darn good. Only rose soap I have in the arsenal (QED) is so intense I can rarely use it. The Klar Kabinett though.....very nice subdued fragrance.

BBS results,

Martin

SATURDAY MORNING 'EARLY RISERS' SHAVE

It's been a while since a morning shave. I actually got up 20 minutes early so I could have one!

Anyway, today's equipment was:

Weber DLC
Rapira (3)
Simpsons Emperor 2 Super
Clinique shave gel
Witch hazel
Clinique post shave balm

I'll have to give the Weber a full week's trial but blimey, what an opener.

If it continues to shave like this I can see why it gets all the plaudits. Utterly BBS and no nicks.

I told you, you'd like the Weber.

The plan is to alternate between Mikael's walkabout straight and a DE this next couple of weeks or so. So this evening after an afternoon in the garden removing ivy roots from a border I'm replanting:

EJDE89L with a Wilkinson Sword blade
Nuage shaving oil used as a pre-shave
EJ Pure Badger
TOBS avocado cream
RSC balm

Very nice. I'm out of mentholated product at the moment (other than the Nuage oil which is very mildly mentholated) having finished off a tube of Ingram yesterday. Going to have to correct that if this beautiful summer weather keeps up! I also need to get a splash or 2 in.

Monday:

Vitos pre-shave
Professor Blighty's Harlequin soap
Aristocrat Jr.
Astra SP
TOBS Shaving Shop AS
TOBS St. James EDC

Another cold water shave, great results. I think I'm sold on this idea.

Re: Acquisitions w/c Mon 21st - Sun 27th May incl.

Proraso pre- and post- shave cream
Ingrams cream
Fatboy on 6, 3 with Schick Krona stainless comfort edge (8th shave)
Proraso pre- and post- shave cream again

Eighth shave with this 1960s blade! First pass on 6 was working but with a bit of a struggle, however, the second pass on 3 was better and got me nice and close. Think my prep with the Ingrams wasn't the best as I haven't used it for a while and was a bit pushed for time today. I think I'll try this blade again soon for its ninth outing!!

And the Ingrams is all gone so I may get another tube very soon

Prep: hot shower
Brush: New Forest 2201 extra stuffed two band
Razor: J A Hellberg
Superlather: Nannys Frebch Lavender + Proraso
AS: Proraso
Strops: Neil Miller
Result: Very, very clean :D

Such a nice summer treat to put in some Proraso cream, we're having some nice weather (been like summer for 1 ½ weeks now :D)

Are you cold-water shavers making the lather with cold too?

This morning:

Prep: Face wash, Imperial Leather bath soap
Razor: Feather Artist Club RG (wood), Pro blade (2)
Brush: Simpson Tulip T2 in two-band Super
Soap: Proraso white
Aftershave: Prof Blighty's Green Ginger
Scent: Penhaligon's Blenheim Bouquet

Lovely. Might dig out the Ingram for only the second time tomorrow.

Sorry people, I know I am supposed to be munching through the Vintage DE razor draw.
But the post man handed a straight razor in my hands, and I got distracted But am back on track, for now.....
This mornings razor
20120528213.jpg

Dove soap/ hotish face cloth face prep
1948-1949 SuperSpeed
feather blade
Palmolive classic (in a bowl)
Kent BK2 brush
Geo.F.Trumper Skin Food to finish

The Super Speed is my least favored Vintage DE Razor.
It's agressive little sod Frankly,
and doesent get used in anger very often, I could go off describing this Razor like I'm on LSD but.....no. I give this one every bit of caution as a straight razor!
BSS WTG,
Shame about the Small weper on my adams apple.
