MONDAY EVENING

Aristocrat #16
Gillette Super Stainless (2)
Simpsons PJ 2 band
Proraso menthol (bowl lathered)
Witch hazel
Prof Blighty Yellow Unction

Another really good shave. These blades work really well with this razor.

this very evening:

Grieg - Holberg Suite. I just adore this music.

Shower, RSC facial scrub
EJ de89 Barley
Gillette Nacet (2)
New Forest 2207 brush
T&H No. 10 cream

Couple of passes, some minor touchups. It has been ages since I used the T&H cream, on a whim I decided to give it a whirl tonight. Lovely, lush botanical smell from it, and excellent performance too.

Finished off with some Barbershop Bay Rum and RSC aftershave balm.

Smooth, happy face:icon_razz:

Well gentlemen. Broke my rule and bought an '04 dated after J. It looked so beautiful but it was a '04 M. Price was right but...
Today's shave
Razor: Gillette '04 M very good condition
Blade: today was the 4th in 2 days
1st Personna red
2nd Personna blue
3rd 7oclock green
4th Derby
Soap: MWF to Derby cream
4 different soaps
Each shave was BBS but this has been the most aggressive razor that I've used!! The R41 is a Gillette tech compared to this '04. I'm going to try a Feather tomorrow. If that fails it's back in the box with it.yes 2-3 passes and done but :)-(!!!!

Monday

Massimo Dutti shaving stick/Truefitt and Hill (Rooney 1/1)/Merkur HD with Astra/Burberry balsam

This is a great stick but sadly no longer in production.

Tuesday:

Proraso pre/post
Mitchell's Wool Fat
40s style Superspeed
Gillette Yellow (4)
Alum & Witch Hazel
Pinaud Vanilla
Nivia ASB

3 passes, great results. Great little razor.

Been busy lately so not posting here much at present. I still using my old Gillette Slim Twist - the poor old Chatsworth and Merkur 38C are feeling neglected. But I'm getting such consistently comfortable shaves. I constantly swop around everything else - but not the razor. As always, each to his own.

All these great pics. Some very good photographers are on TSR!

Gillette Slim Adjustable on 4, 9 with Gillette Super Platinum 7 o'clock
Vitos coconut soap
Henk walnut silvertip brush
Professor Blighty's Universal Shaving Balm - cedarwood and clarysage

Blades arrived yesterday. They're not the jet black super platinum ones; as discussed on here they're a sort of very dark blue colour. Not a great blade. The razor on 4 wasn't removing much hair and had to dial up to 9 to reduce the problem areas. I am getting better at using aggressive settings without burn though, and the lather was great. I think I rarely give the soap time to heat up in the water so pleased to have learnt that.

This morning:

Prep: Face wash, Imperial Leather bath soap
Razor: Feather Artist Club RG (wood), Pro blade (5)
Soap: Taylor's Jermyn Street
Brush: New Forest High Mountain Badger
Balm: Nivea sensitive
Scent: Trumper's Sandalwood
Result: decent

Nicked the edge of the cut, but ten seconds of styptic stopped it nicely. Soap performed particularly well.

After the usual 1-2 minute hot towel prep:

vintage Rooney badger
1958 Executive/Wilkinson Super Sword (NOS)
Rivivage SS
Barbershop Bay Rum AS
Roger and Gallet L'Homme 'Sport' EdT

BBS results,

Martin
