Salute!

- Simplex three-piece military razor circa 1942-44. The razors were procured by the Chief Quartermaster of the European Theater of Operations during WW II - Stock No. 29-R-1035. The razor cap is metal, base plate and handle plastic. Mfg by the Federal Razor Blade Co. of New York. Razor weight 0.94 oz. NOTE: One of the smoothest shavers in my collection. Amazing.

Pre -Shave: shower and Prorasso green.
Soap: Razorock XXX Fresco
Brush: Yaqi Lucky Dice.

Face
Razor: Merkur 33c
Blade: Vokshod

Head
Razor: Leaf
Blade: 1 Derby green split in half and 1 leaf se blade.

Post: cold water splash, witchhazel & menthol, hydralonic acid, Stirling Sharp Dressed Man ASL.

A leisurely shave this afternoon. Needed a time out after dealing with an hour long tantrum from my 2 year old!

Re-trying the Stirling asl. I bought it last summer, when I first started shaving, and assumed I was allergic to something in it because it stung so much. Used it this afternoon and barely a murmur. Now I realise that neither the lotion or my skin were the issue! Onwards and upwards!

Sunday

Cyril R. Salter Solid Shaving Soap
RazoRock BC Silvertip synth 24mm
Face lather
Gillette Old (U.S.A, 1921-28)
Gillette Nacet (1)
Thayer’s Rose Petal and Aloe Vera
Proraso M&E after shave

Another lovely, cooling one today. I still marvel at the quality of Salter’s soap; performance that you’d expect from a product costing 2-3 times as much.

SoTd
Thought I would go with a shavette for a change though I have to be honest it was only the 4th shave on the blade and I felt like I was pushing my luck a little..I like a BBS shave everyday with minimal effort which I get from my straights. The previous shaves with this blade were excellent but today took some work to achieve that BBS and I felt like if I’d have pushed it any further I may have ended up with some irritation so I’ve come to the conclusion while a shavette can provide an excellent shave 3 shaves is the limit on the blades for me..I know others get far more but I’d much rather switch the blade out for my usual flawless finish than squeeze that little extra and end up with irritation, I’m the same with DE blades 3 shaves and it’s done ! Really enjoyed the proraso red again it’s a great scent and a great performer..overall a lovely shave feeling super smooth and refreshed

National Eyewear Day

Rooney 1/2 Ebony Finest (24/57)
Eufros Atlántico shaving soap (tallow) (sample - leather, cypress, lavender, nutmeg)
Wolfman WR2-SB 0.95/WRH3
Polsilver Super Iridium (7)
Dana Canoe aftershave (vintage)
Floris Cefero (vintage)

The Eufros soap made lather that was quite slick but had little cushion. I know some guys like theirs that way, but I prefer a thicker cushion. The scent was light, and I mainly picked up leather.

+1 for the Cyril R Salter solid shave soap, a real gem of a soap.

Paul.

Sunday 6th June

Ganders Goat Soap w/Hop, Sage & Birch
Speick Shaving Stick (Grated)
RazoRock 400 Limited Edition w/Plissoft Noir 24mm
Yaqi SE DLC w/Star Bakelite Handle
BIC Astor (2)
Pinaud Citrus Musk Cologne

Another sound shave with this (what I would call underrated) BIC Astor blade in my Yaqi SE DLC. Super-thick lather from the Speick.

Simple, honest, stainless shave, that. Champion!

Razor = 1960 Gillette Slim Adjustable
Blade = London Bridge ( 3 )
Brush = Wild West Brush Works 24 mm Synthetic
Soap = House Of Mammoth Almond Leather
with matching balm
Splash = Tobs Eton College collection
Brilliant shave again today well really yesterday as i thought i had posted this & realised i hadn’t
i’m a muppet i know
Anyway i’m loving this Slim and can’t wait to get home as iv got a fatboy sitting waiting on me
Excuse the pun lol. and can’t wait to compare them.
The Brush was a recent purchase from RussellR555 and i can’t thank him enough.
quite a weird brush really as it hogs the lather similar to say a badger,
i think it’s the first synthetic iv had that does this although it’s not a criticism, more of an observation but i enjoy it very much.
The soap today is another House of Mammoth
Almond Leather.
Quite possibly 8/10 on scent,
I absolutely love the Almond / Leather Scent
not for everyone for sure but a true classic for me.

I will back you up all the way on the Arancia. A blinder of a soap and top drawer stuff.

Up among my favourites and life wouldn't be complete without it.
