A superb and easy shave this morning. The Yaqi brush made a mountain of rich lather with the PAA soap and the Ikon with a sharp Feather blade made light work of the two pass shave. No more rants about boar brushes…radical brush cull imminent.

Brush: Haryali something or other
Soap: Not really, Gillette canned goop
Razor: Haryali Travel
Blade: Wizamet - the shining star of the shave
Post: L'Oréal stuff

Today's theme, shave with something you can buy locally. So in comes the Gillette canned efforts. It's actually not that bad, but I just didn't enjoy it as much. The razor was a nice little surprise, it actually gave a fairly decent finish. The finish on it is crap, but it's not terrible.

Ah well, onwards and upwards.

Hope everyone has a grand day.

Cheers

Marc

Oh and the picture challenge, something to do with space, so I pinched my 4 year olds lego...gotta be done

Soap & Aftershave The Goodfellas Smile Italian Orange & Orange Empire
Brush Yaqi 22mm Ever-Helpful
Razor Karve Brass SB-F
Blade Elios Inoxidable 1st
The excellent stout brush whip up this beautiful creamy and really slick lather with a refreshing orangy scented from this soap & splash combo! Nice enough shave with this razor paired with the blade. 3 not so smooth passes for a bbs-dfs finish...

Good afternoon / evening all,

In honour of my recent trip to Croatia I have used some products i picked up over there. Sadly not Croatian in origin but not the end of the World.

Pre shave, hot flannel and 3P post shaving cream
Brush, Boti Blue
Razor, Pearl Flexi OC (setting 3 for all 3 passes, kindly provided by The Emporium)
Blade, Permasharp (1st use)
Cream, Max Man (Serbian in origin)
Music, James (still around and still very good)
Post shave, Alum Block followed by Max Man Fresh AS followed by SebaMed ASB

The cream lathered up pretty well and resulted in a relatively slick, i'd suggest paint like texture. This went on well and retained its coverage without evaporating. The scent was very inoffensive and not hugely discernible, so if strong scent is your thing then maybe one to avoid. But for 1 Euro i think its worth picking up if you see it. It would be a good travel cream.

Now for the shave. Its a hefty razor with a lot of presence. And you can feel it as you're shaving. I do take my time shaving these days as i like to enjoy my shaves and not rush them. You do get the impression with this razor that if you don't take your time and don't concentrate and if its on anything over 2 then you could fall foul of it. That said, i had no issues. She performed excellently, i had a few days growth and it dealt with that very well. I think next time i'll dial down to 2 on the subsequent passes and see how that goes. I don't believe in going in hard and setting it to the highest level for the sake of it. But will experiment with higher settings in due course when the opportunity presents.

The Max Man ASB had a bit more scent, i'd suggest aquatic. Quite nice. Again, no issues there. And the SebaMed ASB, was also good and absorbed in nicely. For the cream / AS / ASB, it was either around 10 Euros or just under. Which i think is pretty good for the results.

For reference, i do prefer more efficient / aggressive razors, so think Blackbird / Ambassador etc. So this is right up my street, it may not be up yours. But i think its great, good design and finish as well, the handle was grippy. I didn't think i was going to drop it. And its priced reasonably as well.

Best,

Ben
