SOTD Sat. 19th to Frid. 25th January 2013

Love the shape of that brush Gary - just like the old Surrey except yours will be far better quality. He makes lovely handles does Steve.

Prep: Hot shower, Dove MenCare Sensitive Facial Wash
Pre: Somerset's Pre Shave Oil
Brush: Omega 13064
Soap: RazoRock Classic
Razor: Passes #1 and #2: Fatip Grande with Rapira
Razor: Pass #3 and buff: Merkur 38C Barber Pole with Gillette 7 O'Clock Sharp Edge
Post: Alum, Thayer Cucumber Witch Hazel, Samurai Secret ASB

Result: I think I'm getting this game at last. First two passes with the Fatip were excellent, then finishing off with the Merkur worked a treat. Trying very hard to use minimal pressure and let the tools do the job. Also shaving to my face topography a lot better. I think I can claim a DFS this morning.

Good day to you all..

Jon

Nice shave, DFS. I'm still getting to know this head. It's pretty mild and seems to need a bit more buffing on the coarser areas than the EJ head. The extra weight of the EJ handle compared to the original handle helped a bit with ATG over the jawline. I can see why some like to use these Gillette OC heads on beefy handles like the UFO.

Pre Valobra Lavanda bath soap + Cyril R. Salter shaving soap + Frank Shaving Finest + Gillette Super Adjustable with Filomatic + Ach Brito Lavanda cologne with La Chinata balm

A superb full lavender shave, gentlemen!

Cheers!

Today's raspings:

Gillette English Fat-handled Tech
Personna 'Lab Blue' with single shim
Simpsons Colonel X2L
MWF
Mr Taylor's AS
Mr Taylor's cologne
Astral cream

Pretty good all round but perhaps the double shim is better with the Tech - more experimentation required. MWF lathered a treat with the Colonel who stood no nonsense and ordered it on to my face quick sharp. Lovely brush this but I do miss that big butterscotch beauty of Rooney. My favourite Mr Taylor's to round things off and a wee dab of Astral for that last bit of pampering. Fair braw!

Good afternoon, all.
