SOTD Sat. 19th to Frid. 25th January 2013

Saturday:

After a morning of clearing snow, back home for a nice hot shower and a shave.

LEA stick
Vulfix 660
Tech
Feather
Pinaud Vanilla
Nivea Cool Kick AS balm

Nice enough shave, haven't used the Tech for ages. DFS I think. I was expecting more menthol from the cool kick balm, nice performance though.

Saturday 19th

Hot shower
Hot flannel
MWF scuttle lathered
Simpsons POLO 8 best brush
Weber POL stainless bulldog handle
Voskhod (2)
Cold rinse
Nivea post shave balm

Very comfortable shave today with the Weber much kinder than my Ikon open comb I used yesterday. The Ikon will have another outing with a different blade next week.

Posted this in last week's SOTD... now copied it to here...

Hot flannel
Proraso Pre, white
NF Tubby 1 brush
Nanny's hard soap, Cedarwood and Vetyver
Gillette Tech/Weber Bulldog handle, Gillette 7 O'clock green (1)
cold splash, alum block
Clinique post shave healer

Very smooth. By today's standards it's left me with a bit of irritation around my neck... a few short months ago it would have been the most irritation-free shave ever. Funny how things change

Saturday 19th January

Hot shower and facial scrub
Vitos Pre/Post Cream
Sanguine shavette/Treet carbon Blade
Semogue SOC Boar in Ash
Erasmic Shaving Cream
Simply Facial Toner
Organic Shea Butter
Barbershop Bay Rum AS
Morgans Classic Pomade
Mr Kings Marvellous Moustache Wax

Out this evening for a Murder Mystery Birthday Party so I am travelling light. I had a very nice 3 pass shave with the shavette and I managed to use half of one of the thousands of DE blades I will probably never use!

Nannys French Lavendar soap
Dr Harris (Rooney) finest brush
Weber polished razor with bulldog handle
Astra SP blade (1)
La Toja A/S
Penhaligons Sartorial est

This was my first shave with my new Weber and my first DE shave in a long time having gone to straights then Feather Artist and now back to DE. I found the Weber to be the perfect weight for me and it gave a dfs after 2 passes with minimal pressure. The Astra blade seemed to work well which I was pleased at having not used these blades since I had my 1st starter pack from Connaught. I had previously found them too mild but not tonight. Very pleasing indeed.

... and to go with the brush, my morning shot of:

Sunday
Gillette Fusion ProGlide
Noxzema foam
Chanel Antaeus EDT

Lazy day today. Just going to lay on the sofa, in my pants, watching telly, eating donuts and not worrying about my BMI.

Today's raspings:

Jagger '89L
Gillette yellow + shim
Simpsons Colonel X2L
Vintage Surrey American shaving soap
Barbershop Bay Rum
Vintage Hai Karate Oriental Spice cologne

Man shave today: no Astral cream required but then that's the Barbershop Bay Rum effect for you. Have to say that the Surrey soap is probably the best I've used in my short DE journey thus far so I really ought to thank Martin (dodgy) who sent me it gratis. Cheers bud. Loads quickly, lathers quickly, slicker than snail slime, smells manly and plenty cushion too. Better than MWF? On this showing, aye. I seriously thought about leaving it at that after the cold water rinse but felt the 'Rum' would be the cherry on top and as usual it was. Hardly any touch ups either and just the one shim so thumbs for the Gillette Yellow. I felt they were a little harsh last time out but that grand soap must've done the trick. The HK cologne was another gift of Martin's and is so very, very close to the Shulton Old Spice. Ee but it's a grand and healthy life!
