David, serious but cartoonish as well, eh (think Popeye?) ? Actually excellent value (with plastic handle), cheers Michael

Had this razor a while now for restoration, which looks like it'll just be a sanding-down of the blade. I decided it might be worth honing it up now to use it whilst I wait to get round to cleaning it up. Glad I did - it's a cracker! Solid, heavy and a great performer; it's become a real favourite after just one shave.

Monday Evening:

  • - bespoke Le Tuft Urban Hermit's Black & Blues shave set
    - my last Centwin Super Platinum blade
    - Classic Shaving Lilac soap Puck
    - MICAlum stick
    - Humphreys Lilac witch hazel
    - Booster's Lilac ASL

I couldn't smell any lilac on the breeze before my shave, but I can now.

I've been neglecting my DE's lately but felt like bringing out the Futur tonight. 2½ passes the 1st set on about 3.25 the 2nd and buffing on 5. A great shave.

Very enjoyable shave, it's hard to fault any aspect about this shave, why would anyone want to use a plastic razor after experiencing such a fine shave, it beggars belief. Today I will be having one of my favourite meals, made by myself obviously, Thai green prawn curry, with green beans and basmati rice, mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm!

Tuesday

Muehle R89 'Fat tip' open comb
Wilkinson blade
Vitos shave cream
Muehle synthetic silvertip 23mm
Floris No. 89 after shave balm
Floris No. 89 Eau de Toilette

Excellent. The lather generated was very good, the new Muehle synthetic does a good job (first impression), it is a bit prickly but nothing extraordinary. Next one to try is the new R41 open comb which I just received y'day, a razor that consistently gets reports that describe it as highly aggressive.

Ahh, finally I got to shave with an elusive Shepherd :D Very nice shave and a remarkable restore by Neil, specially the original scales!

Tuesday

FT R & Astra(4)
ToBS Lavender Cr. & EJ BB
OS AS

Went to take the top off the tube and it came off leaving the collar still on the thread:icon_rolleyes: Luckily my ToBS Almond was just about played out so I swapped lids, as it made the ultimate sacrifice.

Well, it won't really be missed as it pales in comparison to T&H's.

Tuesday

Merkur 33G
Gillette Platinun 'Swede' Blade
New Forest 2201 Brush
Tabac Soap Stick
Clinique Post Shave Soother

Ian

After the usual 1-2 minute hot towel prep:

vintage Marshall Fields badger
1958 Executive/Schick Super Chromium (NOS)
Surrey SS (pre VDH reformulation)
Lucky Tiger AS and Face Tonic
Tom Ford 'Azure Lime' EdP'

Second excellent shave with this NOS blade......as good as my go to Iridium, which is saying a lot. Smooth, sharp, and forgiving.

BBS results,

Martin

Last night's shave:

Hot shower
Proraso white soft soap, face lathered with
New Forest T2
Jagger DE89, with
Gillette 7OC Yellow (7)
Trumper's Limes skin food

Seven shaves in and still scything down stubble without skipping or catching. Remarkable. (And if that new-blade minor violence is less than once a week, that makes these not only far cheaper per shave but much more usable.) I think I'll have another one with this blade tomorrow...
