Shave of the day W/C Saturday 9th July

I haven't posted a shave of the day for a while, but today's' was exceptionally good.

Hot flannel
Merkur 34c
Treet Platinum (1)
Kent BK2
Palmolive Classic cream, bowl-lathered
Boots Freshwood AS
Nivea Sensitive ASB

3 passes, WTG, XTG, XTG/ATG hybrid.

Result: No irritation, DFS, as close to BBS as I've ever got.

Strange how some people (I'm thinking Canuck mainly) hate Treet blades. Today was my first go with them, after discovering that Shark SS blades were great in my Slim, but not good at all in the Merkur, and that the modern Wilkies were poor in the Slim but OK (if a little lacking in sharpness) in the Merkur. Well, I can honestly say that, if my experience with the rest of this pack of Treets is similar to today, I'll be buying them in bulk. Smooth, sharp, no tugging and hacked through over 3 days' growth in three passes to leave a very good result.

Razor: Cowboy

Soap from Aleppo 100% oliva - Morris & Forndran Two Bands 25X53 - Merkur 37C - Polsilver #1- Pre Myrsol Emulsión - Pré de Provence shaving soap - Alum block - Toner Thayers Original - ASB Floïd - ASL Myrsol Agua Balsámica.

Thursday Evening:

  • - Goodfella Black Satin-finish OC 3-Piece
    - Lion Super stainless blade
    - Omega 21139 boar knot in rubberised handle
    - Vulfix Persian Musk shave cream
    - Thayers' Lavender witch hazel
    - Myrsol Blue ASL

How can a stainless steel-handled, open-comb razor be so mild and forgiving, yet still give a close shave in 2 over- & 3 under-the-jawline passes?
  • I dunno, but that's what it does; it does ...

Hi folks!

Wow, so much has changed since I last posted,(Aug. last year). Anyway, here goes;

Last shave was yesterday morning, yep I know, but I'll get it right next time.....

Merkur gold slant & blade
Bodyshop cream(superb)
Simpson Duke
The remains of my broken Alum tablet
Gillette mentholated shave balm
Old Spice Whitewater a/s

Managed SAS with one pass & a bit of "touching in". I still have't got my comp. sorted yet, but as soon as this is done, I shall start posting on a regular basis again. 'Bye for now :icon_biggrin:

Tonight:

Hot shower
La Toja stick, face lathered with
New Forest T2
Merkur HD, with
Gillette 7OC Yellow (1)
KoS balm

Slightly apprehensive about a new yellow in probably my most aggressive razor. Went for the La Toja partly because of this - right now, if I were restricted to one lathering product this would be the one.

After doing some reading, stropped the new blade off briefly on a towel, which may well have been a good idea. An absolutely perfect shave - cue-ball smooth, totally comfortable, no blood spotting. I said yesterday was as good a shave as I'd ever had - this was better.

:D

Friday

Merkur 33G
Gillette Platinum 'Swede' Blade
New Forest 2201 Brush
Proraso Shaving Cream (Original)
GFT Limes a/s

Nice.

Friday

Neo Custom 2 band
Nannys Yushi soap
EJ bull mastiff + Crystal (2)
Alum
Natural Limes A/S
Natural Limes Balm

3passes - good result, went for another pass - bad result, some irritation on the neck. I should always stick to 3 passes max. Lesson learned.
