Tuesday:

Tabac soap
Semogue SOC Boar

Shave was a little bit harsh this morning, but I sometimes find that the first shave with one of these new SE blades can be like that. Still, BBS results.

Tuesday 16th December 2012
Prep: Shower
Razor: Ever Ready Streamline
Blade: GEM Stainless Coated
Brush: Vulfix 406 Boar
Soap: Speick grated into a container
Aftershave: King of Shaves Balm

An excellent shave from the Streamline, which for me is not the norm; I find this razor difficult to get a perfect shave with and I am unable to explain exactly why. Perhaps it is the weight or the apparently bigger head (in reality the head is the same size as the 1912's just chunkier)

I am not disputing that this razor is the best 'looker' of the ER/GEM range and the best made by a long way, but of all the SE razors I own this is the only one I have any problem with. As a result instead of practicing more with it (I am sure it is my technique that is lacking) I have tended to sideline this razor and use it less and less.

I intend to put that right!

Regards
Dick.

Monday evening.

Fatip Piccolo
Astra SP
fitness for Men cream soap
Omega Pro 48
Proraso splash.

Great shave last night and I've fonally got to grips witht he Fitness for Men soap and gone from disliking it to loving it. always nice when that happens.

After the usual 1-2 minute hot towel prep:

vintage butterscotch Made Rite badger
1958 Executive/Personna74 (NOS)
The Soap Opera Himalaya SS
Boots Freshwood AS (thanks NTS)
Aramis 'Havana' EdT (old juice)

The Boots product has a nice scent and is quite thick. Usually I prefer a thinner type, but this stuff should be good for very cold weather.

Today makes an even dozen shaves with this old blade. I keep thinking it's time for a new one but it's still performing pretty well.

BBS results,

Martin

Proraso Sensitive Pre/Post Cream
GD #66 6/8
Semogue 1250 Brush
Wars Shaving Cream
Alum Block
Somersets ASB
Clubman Classic Vanilla AS
Morgans Classic Pomade

I am still fine tuning my blade prep so the GD 66 is getting a lot of use recently. 40 laps on felt, followed by 50 on Latigo and 40 on English Bridle. I had a lovely 3 pass shave. Could have stopped at 2 passes, but I was enjoying the shave so much....I carried on.
