It's a great scent. I think you can safely buy it without fear of disappointment
I’ve been very kindly offered a sample of the soap to be sent out in the next couple of weeks so will hang on before pulling the trigger but thought I would ask how others describe the scent to get an idea..do you know what the longevity of the aftershave is like or is it better going with the EDP or doubling up with both maybe ?

Like Dracula's coffin!

It's a strong musky, musty with something quite exotic behind; there's dark fruit and dry spice giving the velvet undertones, but they're well behind a huge wall of mustiness. Don't get me wrong here - it's not dank, it's mysterious.

The Brut Attraction Totale is along similar lines, but more green and less must. It's sort of an "alive" version if Eucris is the scent of the undead.

Some further opinions here: https://www.fragrantica.com/perfume/Geo-F-Trumper/Eucris-Eau-de-Toilette-5012.html

If you like Puig Quorum, imagine it centuries old, awakened by ungodly incantation (and bloooood).
This is an excellent description. I imagine Max Schreck in Murnau’s 1922 Nosferatu wearing this (the Edt, anyway). He would probably have alternated with Lalique Encre Noire ;)

I've never tried the EDT but would happily add it to the den based on the scent of the cream. Got a few others to work through first though.

Such a wonderful photo Marco we need a 'Big Love' emoji

Thank you for your reply I will have a look at the link you provided.. is it dark and mysterious in the way that Czech & Speak no 88 is or is it much darker than that as some people describe that as dark but I love it but not a big fan of scents that are too dark if you know what I mean

C&S 88 ... hold that thought.

Are you familiar with T&H Apsley or Wickham Gothic Revival? It's similar to those.

Yeah, Gothic Revival is a bang-on clone of Eucris. I deliberately did not use the Wickham aftershave with the Eucris cream.

This is an excellent description. I imagine Max Schreck in Murnau’s 1922 Nosferatu wearing this (the Edt, anyway). He would probably have alternated with Lalique Encre Noire ;)

Haha! Too right ...

But yeah, C&S 88 is certainly in the same vein (pun intended) but I'd say GFT Eucris was darker, older, wiser and more mysterious. It's so musty, it makes your tongue feel dry! C&S 88 is Andy Von Eldritch, while GFT Eucris is Peter Murphy. You might need a google depending upon your knowledge of '80s Goth bands.

In fact, no ... GFT Eucris is Lou Reed!

This afternoon -

razor - Mergress (3)
blade - Gillette yellow (1)
soap - Haslinger sheep - tallow
brush - Wee Scot - best badger - tortoiseshell
post - witch hazel
a/s - Laborator de Govanhill - 'Eau de who the fuck are you looking at?'
balm - Vifrex
scent - Hermes - d'orange verte edt.

It's been hot in Glasgow for the last few days - by our standards - you can take off your goretex and - perhaps - one of your fleece layers. Let's not get silly. We're not talking Danakil Depression, Empty Quarter hot - or indeed, Vancouver - but, warm none the less. Time to roll out the latest splash by Laborator de Govanhill - a cunning blend of Floid mentally vigorous and Arctic Glacial - this aftershave is ideally suited to a warm evening's street rumble. We at the Laborator de Govanhill recommend Vifrex or Proraso Green pre/post as the ideal accompaniment for full effect. If the warm weather lasts any longer - it will be time for the big guns - P&B Denali or MT Mint Ice Menthol soap and cold water.

Well done me - I managed to use a razor that was not made by ATT or Karve. How do you make a Merkur Progress better than it already is? Pimp it up - replace the adjustment knob (he said knob) with a metal equivalent - and re-calibrate the setting mechanism. Job done. If you are a fan of the Progress - then keep an eye out for one of these - they are quite rare - but in my opinion - they take a classic razor and make it even better. The balance is perfect. Most commonly seen on the sotd posts of @TomG. He knows his razors.

Enjoy shaving one and all - yours - I.

Oh - thanks to @Paul L and @Scotshave for help in product development with the Govanhill splash - even although the latter is from Edinburgh - ie - a bufty. ;):)
