Tuesday afternoon

Prep: Shower, Cold water splash
Soap: Floris JF in Old Spice mug
Brush: Semogue Boar
Razor: Weber polished on JEC handle
Blade: Polsilver SI (3)
Post: Floris JF balm
EdT: Floris JF

Good cold water shave again. No irritation (seldom have these days), and close comfortable DFS. The "Marko technique" of soaking Boar brush, letting it drip dry only (no shaking or squeezing) and then loading from hard soap works well for me. Lather looks pretty thin when loaded but with a little effort (I face lather) it builds into a very good lather indeed.

As I was less than 20 hours between shaves, I risked, and got away with a two pass shave (both against the grain) Happy days!

Tuesday evening 19:00.

No music. No drink - I'm going out shortly.

Hot Towels
Nuage Men's Pre-Shave Oil
Ingram's Shaving Cream
Pure Badger Brush
Merkur 500C Progress
Personna 'Lab' Blade
Hot Rinse. Cold Rinse.
Witch Hazel
Old Spice

First go with the new Merkur 500C Progress (thank you to Dobbo25) and a Personna 'Lab' blade (again, thanks to Dobbo25).

I got a good shave, setting 3.0 WTG, 2.0 XTG and 1.0 ATG. I got a couple of nicks on my neck, one an ingrower that I'd not spotted under my chin and the other just in a complicated bit. Whether it was the new razor or the new blade, I don't know ... I enjoyed the blade and will try it out in my Merkur 23C. I enjoyed the adjustable and found that I got a better first pass WTG using it dialled open to 3.0. In hindsight, that might have been a little harsh for a first run, but I like to live dangerously ...

Two things that are now absolutely confirmed to me: first, I love menthol; second, I love witch hazel as a toner after a cold rinse. I've got it in mind to make up my own toner, which I think I'll keep really simple: witch hazel, juniper floral water and a couple of drops of tea tree, eucalyptus, peppermint and lavendar.

Right, time to go and play with a different blade ... I'm off fencing.

Have a good evening, all.

Razor: EJ DE89 with Bulldog handle
Blade: 7 o'clock green (4)
Brush: Ecotools Kabuki
Shave soap: Spanish Fig and Nutmeg
A/S: I Coloniali Ebano Ebano
Cologne: X-Bolt in the evening

Razor: Digress HD, on loan courtesy of Hairsuite.

Pre: The Gentleman's Groom Room Pre-shave cream.
Brush: Rooney Stubby 2XL in Jade.
Soap: TOBS Traditional Luxury shaving soap.

Tonight's shave was not so good, but that was down to a rubbish lather due to the crappy water we have, but home time soon.

Scott.

TUESDAY EVENING

Prep: Mild rinse
Razor: Kai Captain Excelia
Blade: Feather Proguard
Brush: Beejay amber acrylic with TGN badger knot
Soap: Nannys Nutmeg spice hard soap - face lathered
Post: Witch hazel and GFT Sandalwood skinfood

Tried a different tack tonight. WTG, ATG (which cleaned the worst of it off) then an XTG kind of buffing pass.

Worked very well. Not BBS, but not far off, and only one small weeper.

Tuesday 8th October

Brush: Semogue 1305
Soap: Tabac
Razor: EJ89 Barley
Blade: Personna Lab Blue/Med Prep with shim
Post: Witch Hazel, Blue Stratos

Perfect shave. The Tabac lathers up so bloody well, so slick and creamy. The Blue Stratos is the perfect end to the shave, too.

Very happy.
