The Aristocrats do help control RAD purely by making you snobby about shaving with a less beautiful razor!

Face wash with Pears oil-control soap
Cobra Classic - Dorco Blade
Neep Jubilee
Vitos Extra Super Shaving Soap - Coconut
Proraso Green A/S

Just awful :icon_sad: all my own work and no-one else to blame dammit.

Big scrub, little scrape.

Prep: Hot shower
Pre: Clinique face scrub
Soap: Boots stick
Brush: Traditional Shaving co. badger
Razor: Progress @3,2.5,2
Blade: Rapira SS (1)
After: Proraso AS, Weleda ASB

A lot of exfoliation going on this morning.
Clinique face scrub. Face lathered with a fairly prickly brush; scrub, scrub, scrub. Haven't used Boots soap for ages. It does the job but not quite as much protection as I'm used to (oh Tabac!).
Setting the Progress a tad higher than normal gave me a little more scrape than was necessary, but still behaved well. Menthol ooch from the Proraso AS warned me to go easier next time.
End result BBS which I think I could've got with less aggression but even so, a refreshing clean start to the day with almost no irritation.

pjgh, I think you're going to enjoy your new Progress.

Have a great weekend, chaps.

SATURDAY MORNING

Prep: Hot rinse
Razor: Schick Type C repeater
Blade: Chick (Chinese Schick)
Brush: Beejay amber acrylic with TGN badger knot
Soap: Nannys French Lavender hard soap - face lathered
Post: Witch hazel and GFT Sandalwood skinfood

This razor has just the right level of aggression for me. You can feel it cutting the whiskers as you use it. Plus it looks fantastic and has a small head so it's easy to get under the hooter and in other difficult places.

The only negative I found is the square handle made a couple of strokes on my ATG pass a bit difficult for some reason.

Consequently I've got a mostly BBS! More practice will be undertaken.

Saturday morning

Prep : clinique face soap
Razor : ej de86
Blade : shark ss
Brush : simpsons commodore x2
Cream : tobs avocado
Post : clinique happy

Not the best today. Last shark from the pack I used the other week and in the ej I now understand where there were 3 left in the pack for so long.

the commodore and tobs didn't want to get on either. Got 3 passes in the end but was a struggle

Soap from Aleppo - Semogue SOC two bands - Merkur 25C - Iridium Super #1 - Pre JASÖN - Shaving cream Truefitt & Hill 1805 - Alum block - Thayers Original Aloe - ASB Truefitt & Hill - ASL 4711.

After the usual 1-2 minute hot towel prep:

vintage rebranded Simpsons best
'Webly'/Perma-Sharp (very nice blade)
J. Peterman 1903 SC
Barbershop Bay Rum AS
Givenchy 'Xeryus' EdT (black bottle)

Wanted to get this cream out and compare it with the Xpec. For a while this Peterman stuff was a top favorite in the rotation, but now I mostly only use soaps. Occasionally this is something I will still reach for because I love it. Been in the arsenal for maybe 5 years or so.

Well, I think both products perform about the same. Might be a slight edge to the Xpec lather as far as looks go. Yeah, they are two favorite creams when it comes to what the shave's like, plus the 1903 scent has always grabbed me.

BBS results,

Martin

Hot flannel
Proraso pre, menthol
New Forest 1901, Nanny's hard soap, Cedarwood & Vetyver
Merkur Progress (#2), Polsilver SI (3)
Cold splash
Clinique post-shave soother

I'm pleased to report that normal service has been resumed... after a week of indifferent shaves (maybe because I was getting over a bad cold)
It took a wrench not to use my Omega brush... but the 1901 is not exactly slumming it!
Now I'm in such a good mood I'm going to do a bit of shaving-related surfing.... soaps and brushes, I think!
