Prep: Hot Shower
Pre Shave Oil: Johnsons Baby Oil
Cream: TOBS Jermyn Street
Brush: Neep Silvertip 1118
Razor: Gillette Slim Adjustable
Blade: Gillette 7'o clock SharpEdge
Balm: Barbershop Bay Rum
So I thought I'd have a change today. I used a Gillette 7'oclock blade which I haven't used in a while as have been solely using feathers.
I thought I'd try some Johnsons Baby Oil as it was right in front of me so I thought it was worth a shot as a pre shave treatment. I also use my Slim Adjustable for the first time.
Well, the result was an excellent shave, the Baby oil did a great job of softening my beard, and the razor and blade combo felt wonderful.
Thought I would try the baby oil pre-lather as discussed on another thread recently. Worked very well. Skin is really smooth and think I'll try this again!!
Blade was a fresh Red Personna. Razor is a single ring copy (unbranded) in a nice silver plated box with two blade holders which I picked up yesterday for £7
Pre Dopobarba Santa Maria Novella + stick Valobra put in bowl + Vie&Long 16910 "two bands edition" + Rotbart 15 with Polsilver + Thayers Lavender "alum" + "old" Aqua Velva lotion with Proraso balm
An excellent shave with no irritation! I think this Valobra stick is one of the best soaps you can buy for those who use straight razors. It's very "sliping"( I don't know how to translate that...)
Pre Shave - Normally use the Proraso however, thought I'd try and be clever and use my Dermalogica face wash as a base for the Fitjar shave cream.
It's very glycerine like.
Upshot, it didn't work as well as the Proraso. Lather - Fitjar Sandalwood Cream Razor - Gillette Slim.....1st pass on setting 3.....2nd pass setting 4......3rd pass back to 3 Blades - Feather Post shave - Proraso water mix followed by just Proraso when first application absorbed. Afters - Angela Flanders...Earl Grey
