After the usual 1-2 minute hot towel prep:

Last few days on the road I've tried using the Surrey like a shave stick for the first times ever. Yeah, after all these years I finally tried just rubbing a soap on my face and making the lather that way. Holy crap! I've been an idiot for not trying this method before. Really really good lather. Sheeesh. Well, better late than never I guess.

Comment| After a mach3 shave the straight has given back to me the feeling of a real shave. French stuff had become the best partners for this TI evidé sonnant and the result has been better than expected. The Humble Witch Hazel is a fantastic product and it makes better the camomille oil from Martin de Candre, I didn't expet that the best of this shave would be the aftershave but it was .

Turned the wick up a bit on the Progress and went to 3.

Put quite simply, one of the best DE shaves I have ever had.

Good shave today. No nicks at all. Excellent pairing - Rocket HD and Sharp Edge

The brush is still scritchy but it's a bit better after a few uses. A gratuitous photo today, mainly so that I could check out the DOF of my new lens.

WEDNESDAY EVENING 'PRE RETURN TO WORK' SHAVE

After the luxury of a week and bit of lie-ins I don't want to get up at 0620 tomorrow so had my shave tonight instead.

I wanted to check that the Polsilver hasn't been a fluke 'magical pairing' while I've been using it with the Ikon so tonight I tried it with one of my perennial favourites.

It's no fluke, it's a super blade. Hence 100 have been ordered!

A BBS, irritation free shave. Result!

Not quite as stunningly close as last time, but another close comfortable enjoyable damage-free shave. A couple of days' growth is of course nothing to these devices :).

First use of my boxing day present Neep. Lovely in the hand and very acceptable on the face for a first use. I suspect, on this early evidence, it's going to be an even better latherer than its yew brother.
