Monday

Quick shave this morning as I was in a hurry. I think it was one shave too many for the feather as it was tugging a bit. I think I'll stick to 2 shaves with these blades going forward.

Pre: Hot Shower
Soap: Nanny's Ice & a Slice
Brush: New Forest Super Badger
Razor: Merkur Futur
Blade: Feather (3)
Balm: NIVEA After Shave Balm

After the usual 1-2 minute hot towel prep;

vintage butterscotch Ever Ready badger
1956 Executive/Schick Super Platinum (NOS)
IK SS used as a stick
Malizia vetyver AS
Malizia vetyver EdT

This old blade is a top performer, easily as good and probably better than the Iridium I usta favor so much. I've used the Schick blade in multiple razors...all with great results. I gotta find a few more of these old things.

BBS results,

Martin

Cold water prep,
Nanny's Yushu soft soap,
Bluebeard's Privateer Brush,
Gillette 'New',
Yellow 7'o Clock,
C&E Nomad Balm.

Lovely stuff today, was in a bit of a hurry but even so first time with the badger produced excellent results, handle was a bit slippery though. Also very keen on the Yellows also first time but could become a favourite.

This morning:

Prep: Face wash, Imperial Leather bath soap
Razor: Feather Artist Club RG (wood), Pro blade (1)
Soap: L'Occitane Cade
Brush: Neep #947 yew silvertip badger
Balm: Bulldog
Result: very close

A little nick, or sub-nick really, on the right jawline, always my problem area, that stung a little on the first rinse, but otherwise good.

Prep: Hot shower
Brush: Muhle, 25 mm
Razor: Mappin and Webb, Trustworthy
Cream/AS: Lavada
Strops: Neil Miller
Result: Very, very clean :D

No pic, but lovely shave :D

Aristo 16
So far the 16 is really living up to the hype.

In fact, I've decided to spend the next few weeks testing all my Aristo's to see which one I prefer. I will use the same blade in all of them and use each for a week.

What's up Paul,

Yeah, that #16 really is a nice razor. I noticed you acquired one recently and I'm glad it's a good fit so far. Strangely enough, it took me 5-6 times before completely figuring the thing out and now it's a very fun part of my rotation. Hah, it's the only razor I ever paid full retail price for.....a perfect storm kinda thing.

Congrats on the excellent addition to your shaving arsenal,

Martin

Thanks Martin

The first time I used it with a shite cream and the results were a tad disappointing.

I still don't think I've fully got the hang of it but last night it delivered a really nice shave, not as close as the R41, but almost BBS and with not one nick which is a Bertie Bonus.

Second straight razor shave, not as good as yesterday. Main culprit: self, for letting myself be distracted by crying kids, resulting in sub-perfect lather.

Anyways, all of the face WTG today, no nick or cuts.

Musgo soap and hot flannel prep
Cella
New Forest tubby1
Kropp 5/8
Feather AS-D1 with Crystal blade (2)
Alum
Rakvatten (Swedish, dirt cheap aftershave, but very nice mild citrus scent)
