It is one of the more pleasant budget citrus style scents I have, feels great on the skin as well like all Brut aftershaves I have used.

I couldn’t put off using the Durham Duplex that I found a few weeks ago for the first time any longer. I have a thing about trying quirky vintage razors, a shared interest with @Dave in KY I guess. I couldn’t see any point using a Durham original blade. Looks good for carpet trimming but shaving ……. So I modded a couple of Feather SE blades and after a lot, and I mean a lot, of fiddling got a set up that looked ok.

That AC hack works really very well, doesn't it?

I'm going to have to ask you to put the idea of using those original Durham Duplex blades at the back of your mind and come back to them. I have all manner of ages going back to what I guess must be the 1910s through to the 1950s. I also have a pack of Personna Pathology blades, which have a hone suitable for shaving also.

The vintage Durham Duplex blades are actually a dream to use. You do need some kit, though ...

Once you have a stropper attachment, you're good to go ... and do a bit of DIY. I used some neoprene (yeah, upside down mousepad) glued to a piece of wood and sprayed with diamond 0.25u. Strop the blade with an ever so gentle draw, by which I mean just raise it a tad off the pure strop angle. You're trying to refresh that second bevel.

Strop on leather and have a shave.

Those stropper attachments came with the Derby kits, off the top of my head ... it's been maybe a decade since I was into these razors. The Domino leather rolls also got a stropper piece to fit to the head of the actual razor, but that was less than satisfactory for the purposes of re-honing and stropping. The proper stropper handle is what you want.

If you were brave, yes, you could take a Kamisori-type shave with that. To be frank, it's actually not as nervy as an Artist Club razor for shaving!

Of course it does - it's from Yorkshire, silly!

Goregous waft of peppermint and lavender with the gentle cooling and soothing that those herbs bring. Lovely! Bringing the burn with the aftershave, though. Perfect!

The third shave with the 3one6. I'm very impressed. Lovely efficient shave. Trying the Shark blade for the first time in perhaps 10 years. I recall dismissing the blade at the time; however, I'm happy to say it's a good sharp'un. Bought a blade sample pack to revisit the blades I used when I first set out DE shaving. I'm really pleased that the Shark has impressed.

It's a safe enough bet ...

Post-shave feel is lovely. Akin to Savonniere du Moulin, so guessing it's the milk that has that postitive effect.

Have you used anything from Signature Soaps? They have a few things with Peppermint. Eboracum is Cedarwood and Peppermint and it is glorious.

Yes, the AC hack does work fine and if I did it again I would try for a slightly more aggressive setting. I really admire what you have achieved with the Durham razor and Duplex blades but I’m not sure that I’ve got the patience however to prep a Duplex blade. I can’t see how to use the back edge of the razor comfortably given the fixed geometry. Maybe that was never the intention though.

The back? That's the sheer genius of that razor! Stroke down, stroke straight back up ... comes into its own under the chin/down yer neck. I suppose if it's not your thing then just the one AC blade would do just fine.
