SOTD: Saturday 13 January - Friday 19 January 2024.

Well folks I have decided to take a more serious approach on these SOTD's and leave the clown shoes angle in the past.

So here it is the shave themed, 'The new me. Bye bye the old SF'

SOTN (Head & Face)

Winning Razor (Schick blade) - Face and Head pickups
Leaf razor (Treet Platinum saloon blades) - Head
Yaqi Caramel brush (synthetic)
Saponificio Varesino Desert Vetifier - soap & splash
Nivea Fresh Kick balm

First time using this Yaqi brush which arrived today. Very soft tips with lots of backbone, ticks all my boxes and punches way above it's price point .

Tuesday 16th January

Soap • Stirling Orange Chill
Brush • APShaveCo 24mm Synbad
Razor • Razorock Hawk V3
Blade • Schick Proline P (6)
Splash • Stirling Orange Chill
Balm • Stirling Orange Chill

Despite the cold weather, Stirling Orange Chill made for a pleasant shave. The balm is especially nice - calming and non-greasy.

Simpson Duke 3 Super
Gillette Slim Twist
Polsilver Łódź (6)
Proraso Red cream
Thayer’s Lavender witch hazel
Speick Active a/s

The blade was a bit tuggy on it’s sixth outing, but I persevered and produced a nice enough finish.
Speick aftershave dealt with the slight discomfort of a dullish blade.

Good enough for a freezing Tuesday night in January.

Enjoy yours chaps.

SOTD Tue 16 Jan 2024

A what day is it? Oh yes, Tuesday shave.

Prep - shower, Imperial Leather face wash
Bowl - glass
Cream - Palmolive Classic
Brush - Yaqi 24mm tuxedo synthetic
Razor - Wilkinson Sword TTO
Blade - Derby Extra (4)
Post - lather remains face wash, cold rinse, alum block
Splash - Sierran Breeze ASL
Balm - Bulldog Sensitive ASB

Refreshment - cup of tea (Northumberland Tea Co teabag)

I think that was the first shave I’ve had with the Wilko that hasn’t felt ‘ouch’ afterwards. Don’t think it will ever be enjoyable (can a razor actually be enjoyable? Well I think some can - I find the Merkur 38c to be one anyway!) But I think the Wilko could be classed as ‘workmanlike’!
All in all, not a bad mid-week shave, smooth, pretty comfortable, nice smelling and feeling, finishing with a dollop of the Bulldog balm.

Bulldog!! What bulldog? I don’t like bulldogs!
It’s ok, it was just some shaving stuff, not a real bulldog, honestly!
You sure?
Positive.
Phew!
