I am really impressed with the Slim one of the closest shaves ever!

Good little razors the slim, people who can't get along with a fatboy try a slim and generally prefer them.

Prep: Shower and hot towel
Pre: T&H Sensitive Skin Shave Oil
Brush: New Forest Tubby 2
Lather: T&H Trafalgar Cream
DE: Weber Bulldog Polished
Blade: Personna Platinum
Post: Barbershop Bay Rum, T&H Sensitive Skin Balm
Cologne: T&H West Indian Limes

Verdict? First proper shave with the Tubby 2 and I really like it. Good backbone and great thick lather in no time.

The Personna blades are in my TSR sampler pack from Connaught and I'm really liking them! My only issue is that on my second pass I'm usually overconfident and I forget not to apply pressure on my neck so I'm still getting irritation there, but I think I'm making progress!

(Incidentally - I don't have really dirty bathroom walls, it's an effect of the photo app I used, honest!)

Prep: Shower
Razor: Schick J3 Golden 500
Blade: Personna Stainless Coated
Brush: Semogue 620 Boar
Soap: Speick grated into a container
Aftershave: Simple Balm

My first use of this razor, a recent e-bay purchase. It shaves just wonderfully, it is quite a mild gentle razor but certainly produces a close shave and is very easy to use.

I am unsure at the moment about the length of the handle, I am so used to short handles that it seems way too long, but I am sure I could adapt, I do like the Hydromagic feature enabling you to rinse the blade whilst it is still in the razor.

Regards
Dick.

Prep: Shower with Dove MenCare Sensitive Facial Wash
Pre: Proraso White
Soap: Viking
Brush: Neep Custom '67 threepenny bit
Razor: Ikon 2PB
Blade: Feather Hi-Stainless #1
Post: Alum, Thayers Alcohol Free Toner, Institut Karite ASB, Floris Santal ASL

Result: Virgin cold water shave. Surprisingly good and definitely irritation free. I used the Ikon this morning on the closed comb side, as it's a mild shave, but with a fresh Feather blade. I'll persevere with the cold water shaving. Certainly wakes one up of a morn... but not sure it is as pleasurable as a hot shave. Anyway.. three passes and nice and smooth to boot.

Good day to you all..

Jon

A hint of irritation on my cheek, that hasn't happened in ages, which didn't last and a good themed shave.

SWMBO has run off with the Colonel so I've been demoted to the lower ranks! Just as well the 48 doesn't give a hoot - it just works flawlessly every time.

Wilkie blade tugged a lot on the moustache stubble and just didn't feel all that sharp. Not the closest of shaves in the more difficult neck areas despite a few touch ups. Every time I've used one of these, the result is very similar so that's another blade off the list for me. Look forward to the arrival of the Voskhods.

Cold water shaving isn't for me as I get better results the old way. Not a criticism of the method though, as it clearly works for some. What I have learned from it, is water that is really hot, irritates my skin. Good and warm is best for this fat fizzer.

Good to see more and more people are embracing the proper way of shaving ;)

Bugger... go to a lot of trouble to avoid the paps and they still found me...

Anyway:

Hot flannel
Proraso pre, white
Simpson Colonel X2L brush, TOBS Sandalwood cream
Gillette Fat Handled Tech, Gillette 7 O'clock sharpedge (1)
Cold splash, alum block
Clinique post-shave healer

This was the last chance saloon for the 7 O'clock yellows. For some reason I find them very nicky.. but I go back to them every couple of months to see how I get on. Had an excellent lather and worked very carefully on my technique. Result: more weepers than Elvis' funeral. After alum and balm it was sort-of OK... but why settle for "sort-of OK"? The blades will be Pif'd at some convenient point... shame

Very nice shave, but I'm going to tweak the edge a little, seems like it needs a touch up ... Same razors tomorrow...
