Jagger 89L, single shim, Rapira SS
Simpsons Colonel X2L
Ingrams
Barbershop Bay Rum
Astral

One of the best shaves I've ever had. After a few rough shaves experimenting with some vintage razors, I went back to my Edwin Jagger and similarly dependable products. Marvellous!

First Vintage Shave

Prep: Shower
Pre: Proraso pre-shave
Soap: Mitchell's Wool Fat
Bowl: Steve Woodhead scuttle #1B
Razor: 1964 Slim Adjustable @3,5,5
Blade: Astra SP (1)
Brush: Semogue 830 boar
Aftershave: H&B alum, Tabac asb

Took the Slim out for a test drive this morning.
I'd been having cold-water shaves this week but for this test I used warm water. I was cautious of using a 7 o'clock Yellow on the test run as it's quite keen for me so filled up with an Astra blade as I know they are forgiving. Leisurely morning so broke out the Fat and cruised in 3rd gear on the slim for the first pass. Easy ride; so up-shifted into 5th for the final two circuits. Smooth ride all the way, no incidents or accidents. Final lap with alum block reported back no irritation or Sting; magic.

Result: Best BBS so far I think. This Slim design is a work of art and just does the job without effort. In fact, the engine noise was so quiet I was wondering if it was cutting the mustard at all; but it did, and very well.
Would recommend anyone to have a drive with a vintage Rolls-Royce of a razor.

SATURDAY MORNING

Schick Krona
Rapira (2)
Simpsons Duke 3 Best
Nannys French Lavender hard soap
Witch hazel
Institut Karite balm

Nice smooth shave to start the weekend. Recovery from illness starts here!

Saturday

Razor: Futur chrome
Blade: 7 o'clock yellow (3)
Soap: Tabula rasa Tangerine and vetiver
Brush: Rooney Victorian 3 band heritage super badger
Post: Nivea

Suffering from man flu so this was a pick me up shave. What a pick me up it was. The brush was fantastic, the soap scent was perfect for the mood and the futur, as always was faultless.

Saturday:
Am away working in the deep south of Ireland for three days so I'm on a travel set up with no variation until next week:

Merkur 34C HD
Gillette 7 o'clock yellow
TOBS travel badger brush
"TOBS shaving shop" cream (tube)
DR Harris Pink aftershave

Bit rushed, but not bad. The soap just exploded in this soft water, it's lovely.

After the usual 1-2 minute hot towel prep:

vintage rebranded Simpsons best
'Webly'/Schick Plus Platinum (NOS)
The Soap Opera Himalaya SS
Boots Northwoods AS Balm
Storer 'Monk' EdP

Every time I use this soap it impresses me the hell outta me. Some of the thickest, richest, and best performing lather I know of. Pretty amazing for the extremely low price point.

Heh, the Michael Storer EdP is one that calls to me on rare occasions. Very unusual scent that hit me juuuust right this morning. http://www.basenotes.net/ID26125710.html

Today's shave was one of those where I was almost tempted to do an extra pass just for the heck of it (nervous chuckle).

BBS results,

Martin
