SOTD SAT 9 June to 16 June

Thursday

Pre. Confianco Redondo
Soap. Proraso Sandalwood
Brush. Neep Jubilee
Razor. Progress (set to 2)
Blade. Perma Sharp
Balm. Cade
After Shave. Veleiro

First try of the new Proraso Sandalwood and a Perma Sharp. Love the Proraso, smells great and lathers up very well. I didn't like the old green bowl Proraso, but the Sandalwood is totally different. The Neep brush produced loads of lovely thick lather, nice brush.

Also never tried a Perma Sharp before, wow what a shave two passes was enough lovely smooth blade.

Aqueous cream
Palmolive cream (bowl slathered for the first time and seemed easier than face slathering given it comes in a tube).
Schick M with Gillette Platinum Plus injector blade
Bulldog a/s balm
Hugo Boss - Boss Bottled

Very close shave but if I had left the lather on a bit longer it would have been easier. Lots of buffing

Thursday

Dovo Best Quality 5/8
New Forest 2201 Brush
L'Occitane Cade Shaving Soap
Thayer's Witch Hazel Toner

Apart from one cut, this actually went very well. A scything motion (suggested by a fellow TSR dweller) appears to deal with my whiskers better than just hitting them "head on".

The result looks better than it feels, and apart from the one cut, no burn or blood.

Note to self: - Don't "scythe" on your chin.

Thursday:

Merkur HD 34c
Personna Red
Neep box wood silvertip
Martin de Candre
Acqua di Parma colonia

I've been using Bic single-blade disposables for the past few days, due to flying with only hand baggage. The Bics did a pretty good job, but now I'm back home it certainly feels good to get a solid piece of metal back in my hands.

Prep: hot shower
Brush: Astor by Simpson
Razor: Masonic Sheffield blade in the loveliest custom scales, made by Neil Miller :D
Soap: Yushu by Nanny
AS: Ogallala, Limes and Peppercorns
Strops: Neil Miller
Result: Very, very clean :D

Thursday. Well less than scary sharp today. After everything I've seen about the Imperial brand razor from Germany I just had to get one. Nice but nothing to write home about. Seemed easy to hone. Spent the normal time on it last nite. And... Well we'll try again tonite. Shave was ok nothing special.
Razor: Imperial 20507 Germany
Soap: Gillette Shave Cream
Brush: #6 Horse Turkey
Preshave: Noxzema Plus
Alum
AS: Clubman Draggon Noir
Balm: Neutrogena Triple Protect lotion
Ok shave, not 'Imperial' but ok will rehone tonite. Draggon Noir interesting.

This morning:

Prep: Face wash, Imperial Leather bath soap, cold
Razor: Feather Artist Club RG (wood), Pro blade (11)
Brush: New Forest High Mountain Badger
Soap: Prof Blighty's Peppermint
Aftershave: Prof Blighty's Yellow Ginger
Scent: Trumper's GFT

Need to buy some more of this scent, it's getting low and I love it.

THURSDAY EVENING

Gillette HD500
Gillette Super Nacet (2)
New Forest Superbadger
Tabac stick (face lathered)
Witch hazel
Institut Karite AS balm

A while since I've used a HD500 and I'd forgotten just how good they are.

Perhaps I won't sell this and will keep it as a backup (Dodgy style!)

Tabac was as excellent as always. Good to end the week with a really nice shave.

Ohhh, what a smart member you are Paul!

Yes, backups are crucial to peace of mind. God forbid some kinda horrible accident should befall your only one of those and you weren't able to answer it's insistant yammering! Yes Paul, the razor may die but it's 'ghost monkey' lives on. You never wanna have those hanging around.....trust me on that.

Now what I do is keep the two that fit me best. Then I'll sell the others (sometimes....it's possible anyway). I have back ups of a few favorites and it feels great! Great!!!!!!

Far as Tabac goes, I'm with you. I mean, who doesn't love the smell of dead things right under their nose in the morning.
