SUNDAY EVENING SHAVE

Razor: Ever Ready Streamline
Blade: Gem (1)
Brush: New Forest 2221
Cream: Palmolive - face lathered
Post shave: Witch hazel and Institut Karite balm

I know some people don't like the Streamline, but it shaves really well for me.

Whether it is worth all the hyperbole and drooling that takes place on another forum (and consequent driving up of prices), and whether it shaves any better than a bog standard 1912 is a moot point. However, it is certainly a very attractive razor.

Kyoku Brushless
Wilkinson Hydro 5

Tried something different today just to see what it was like, and I have
To say it was not as bad as I feared.Might try a different razor tomorrow
And I think some Asb as it has left me a bit dry in places.

Monday viii March 2013

Pre: Shower, Dove Men+Care Sensitive Facial Wash
Prep: Cold water splash
Brush: Vie-Long Horse and Badger 14080
Soap: Jabonman Lime, Pepper and Menthol
Razor: Ikon 2pb
Blade: Polsilver Stainless # 1
Astringent: Thayers Lemon WH
Post: Trumpers Lime Skin Food, Molton Brown Moisturiser
ASL: Creed Original Cologne

Result: In recognition that spring is, at last, trying to make an appearance I went for a fragrance heavy citrus shave this morning. I think I've had my 5 a day already! Great result - I think the Ikon and the Polsilver are my A1 combo.

Have a good day, everyone.

Jon

Monday

Prep: Hot Shower
Cream: TOBS Eton College
Brush: Simpson Duke 3 Best
Razor: Gillette New with Custom JEC handle
Blade: Gillette SuperThin
AS : TOBS Eton College
Cologne : TOBS Eton College

Excellent shave. This big JEC handle makes the New much more aggressive.

Shower
Proraso Sensitive pre/post applied with the brush
Bluebeard's Shaving Cream
New Forest 2204 (first outing) - Wow! Lather up my arm!
EJ 89L
Derby Extra (3rd day) - bit draggy
Alum
Truefitt 1805 ASB (first outing) - good feel, interesting aroma.

Monday:

Nanny's French Lavender hard soap
Semogue 2012 SE
Gillette Long Comb New/JEC Handle
Gillette 7 o'clock SharpEdge
Witch Hazel
Barbershop Bay Rum
Nivea anti-irritation ASB

Another good shave, nice and smooth. Nanny's soap is absolutely top drawer.

Greetings

Monday 8th April 2013
Prep: Shower
Razor: GEM Contour
Blade: GEM Super Stainless Vintage
Brush: Vulfix 404 Mixed
Soap: Cella
Aftershave: La Toja Balm

These old blades came with this razor which was NOS so I suspect the blades are late 70's to early 80's. The blades shave quite well I suspect they are not coated.
A very nice shave from this mild razor. GEM's penultimate offering before they ceased production.

Regards
Dick.

Morning, all.

Monday:

Prep: Claus Porto Lime-oil face soap
Razor: Wilkinson Sword Classic
Blade: Perma-Sharp Super (3)
Brush: Ecotools Kabuki
Shave soap: Kell's Aloe and Hemp, Juniper and Sage
A/S: Peshana Bay Rum
Cologne: Aquatonic "Tidal Wave"

A quick one-pass ATG left me with a pretty close, good-looking shave.

Thanks Dr Rick and yes, Norfolkdick, I would place that razor as one issued at least around WW1, if not earlier. The scales are blond buffalo horn with a lead spacer and there are further letters and numbers on the other side (I'll try and post a picture tonight).

Today's shave:

Prep: Shower
Scuttle: Schwarzweisskeramik
Brush: Simpson's Best Badger Chubby 1
Razor: Dorko 12, 5/8" grooved full hollow
Cream: Castle Forbes Lime
Astringent: Osma Alum
Moisturiser: E45
Eau de Toilette: Penhaligon's Blenheim Bouquet

Notes: There is a certain ease to shaving with a small bladed, full hollow round point, particularly if the steel is a little stiffer than usual. Finished the edge on an Escher last night and it wiped off the whiskers well this morning. A little sting from deficiencies in technique. The edge was very good and held up well.

After the usual 1-2 minute hot towel prep:

vintage rebranded Simpsons best
1958 Executive/Feather
Surrey SS (pre VDH reformulation)
Boots AS Balm
Malizia 'Vetyver' EdT

Another perfect shave using this razor/blade/soap trio. Not boring, but instead a no drama experience that left my face smooooth and feeling good. What shaving should be about......

BBS results,

Martin

This morning:

Prep: Cold rinse
Razor: G Towa T 6/8"
Brush: Neep #955 soapstone ball and bobbin silvertip
Soap: Provence Sante verlaine

Four days' growth, no tugging. Yes, I think I have a better angle :).

Monday afternoon.

Prep: Nivea Sensitive Face Wash, Cold Water
Soap: L'Occitane Cade
Brush: M&F Blonde Badger
Razor: Polished Weber/Bulldog
Blade: Polsilver SI (1)
Post: Thayers Cucumber WH, Clinique Post-Shave Healer, Clinique M Lotion
EdT: Lalique Hommage a l'Homme

Excellent shave today after a day off due to being under the weather. Amazing how a nice shave can pick you up!

Monday 8th April

Hot shower
Hot flannel
Trumpers Coconut hard soap scuttle lathered
Simpsons POLO 8 best badger brush
Weber POL with bulldog handle
Gillette 7 oclock Super platinum (Indian black) (1)
Cold rinse
Witch hazel
Myrsol lemon aftershave

Comfortable shave, good slick lather from the Coconut soap. The 7 oclock black blade for me is not as good as the Russian made blades. It's ok and gets the job done.

Brian

Back home shave this afternoon.

Sir Irisch Moos stick
Henk walnut silvertip (sorry Bechet45)
Slim Twist with Super Thin stainless
Cold water

Good shave. I don't expect BBS from this razor but it gets me pretty close very easily and quickly.
