SOTD Sat. 6th April to Fri. 12th April 2013

hot shower and proraso pre-shave
Nannys Eucalyptus and tea tree soap
Vulfix 404 brush
Gillette TV Rocket
Perma -Sharp Super (NOS, made in Scotland and donated by Hairsuite)
Proraso to finish.

This is the most comfortable and smooth shave I have had since I started with the DE. Feeling very, very good right now.
Just waiting for the Proraso to calm down before deciding on which fragrance to put on, I might just put more Proraso on, wonderful stuff!!!

After the usual 1-2 minute hot towel prep:

Savile Row badger
1958 Executive/Feather
RL Safari SS
Boots AS Balm
RL 'Safari' EdT (vintage juice)

Heh, my recent typing in another post about the Fatboy/Feather combo caused me to take that blade outta my Webly and switch it into the Exec, which is basically a glorified Fatboy. Dialed it down one number than usual and the perfect shave occurred like it always does. Nice being able to tame that sharp of a blade.

BBS results,

Martin

Yes the Feather does need reining in! Which number was it set to?

Prep: Cold Water Splash
Razor: English NEW LC with Weber Bulldog Handle
Blade: Wilkinson Sword #1
Brush: Simpson Duke 2 Best
Soap: Lea Stick
Post: Proraso Menthol Post Cream
Aftershave: Proraso Splash

A very nice 2 pass cold water face lather shave

This is the first time I've used a Germany Wilky since i first started DE shaving, I picked them up with a plastic DE razor in boots. The blade was spot on for this razor combo, smooth and sharp.

Saturday

Gillette face wash
Proraso pre
Erasmic/Palmolive frankensoap

First time using 7oclock green doesn't seem to be as comfortable as the yellow but a good shave - still not quite getting the BBS I am looking for! First use of the Frankensoap and was very happy with the results

Sunday 7th April 2013
Prep: Shower
Razor: Schick Injector G8
Blade: Schick Custom Golden Swedish Steel
Brush: Semogue 830 Boar
Soap: Arko squeezed into a container
Aftershave: Adidas Balm

A bad start, the blade felt 'tuggy', I thought I had dragged it across the near blade stop whilst inserting it so I binned it and fitted another. Still 'tuggy', so obviously it's the blade itself, I ended up with a perfect shave but with 'tugging' for the first two passes!

These blades are late fifties or early sixties and came with a razor I bought, I suspect they are carbon (nowhere on the container does it say stainless) Another example of a carbon blade being super sharp but feeling so very different from coated stainless blades.

Despite the less than perfect feel to the shave I have not the slightest bit of irritation and a super smooth shave.

Regards
Dick.

I have tested today this soft italian soap, and got some mixed emotions. Lather and slick was very good, but the aroma is not my cup of tea. Nothing what Floïd couldn't solve

Notes: A sharp-feeling shave, but I managed not to irritate my skin too much, judging by the lack of sting from the alum. My usual 2 pass + touch up.
I had finished the razor on a Charnley Forest and it worked well.

Greetings

Wouldn't it be so interesting to hear what tales the soldier who owned that razor could tell, I surmise that the numbers branded on the scales are part of his service number. I think we can be pretty sure he has long departed this world.

Dick.

Pre Veleiro soap + Penhaligon's Endymion shaving cream + Frank Shaving Finest + "Frankenrazor" Pearl-Merkur with Schick #4 + Brummel splash with La Chinata balm

This time I have facelathered directly with this luxurious cream, and I enjoyed better its light yet sophisticated fragance.

I combined as well my Pearl handle with a Merkur closed comb head and I got a E&J Chatsworth like low-cost "Frankenrazor" very enjoyable!

Cheers!
