SOTD Sat. 4th May to Fri. 10th May 2013 ...

Prep: hot towel, musgo real castor oil soap
Cream: proraso green
Razor: Gillette aristocratic junior
Blade: nos Gillette blue (3)
brush: vie boar
After shave: thayers witch hazel extra cool

Bowl lathered today, and again the proraso produced copious amounts, however unlike yesterday menthol seemed much at stronger, odd. 3 passes + touch ups and another dfs, enjoyed the proraso much more today

Proraso green soap, original (soap of the week)
Henk walnut silvertip
Fatboy nickel plated, 7 and 5
Unknown blade (no branding - suspect it's the cheapest Personna blades)
Home made Cedarwood aftershave

Made the aftershave with water, witch hazel, Cedarwood essential oil, tea tree oil and a dash if olive oil. Works well but probably had too much witch hazel. Added a dash more Cedarwood oil and lots more water and very nice. Scent doesn't linger long but I'm getting occasional light whiffs half hour later.

Monday night

Gillette face wash
Proraso pre
New forest 1901
Ingrams cream
Merkur progress (2.5,2.5,2.5)

Good shave blade not as good as first shave but Ingrams cream worked well again

Very early Tuesday morning

Prep: Hot shower, Dove Men+Care face scrub
Brush: Omega 10065
Cream: Groomed RSC- Face lathered
Razor: EJ89 Barley
Blade: Supermax Blue Diamond (2)- Single
Post: Alum, Witch Hazel, Sierran Breeze ASL

Very nice again. Like the blue diamonds in this razor, they seem to work very well for me. First use of the cream, strange scent but quite effective. 1 ATG pass, plus touch ups, DFS.

Musgo Real Glycerin Lime Soap
Rosegold R41 with Astra SP
Proraso Green (New)
Chinese 24 mm Pure
Krampert's Bay Rum

It's been a while since I used the Proraso. I didn't enjoy it as much as the first time. I kept comparing it to Ingram's the whole time and actually find Ingram's better - both in performance and in menthol strength. It was still a good cream, but I found it took a lot more water than Ingram's and didn't produce as cushion-y a lather.

Greetings

What a beautiful handle; shame about the head screwed on the end of it! :icon_razz:

Regards
Dick.

After yesterday's horrible event involving a free unknown Chinese tube of shaving cream from a recent hotel stay in HK and a Wilkinson's Laser blade I opted for my old favourite MWF and a new Rapira Swedish Supersteel blade in my Rocket.
Talk about chalk and cheese!
First time with the blade and I was very impressed.Sharp, smooth shave.
Last time shave felt this comfortable was using the Astra's
Finished off with Steve's Barbershop rum.Lovely.

No irritation at all today, so I'm blaming the Natural Grooming Co. moisturiser which is a shame as it's chock full of goodies.

Bloc Osma
Witch Hazel
D.R. Harris Arlington AfterShave Splash

I don't use Castle Forbes near often enough, as it is with all my favorites. A quick four pass shave, and run out the door...

Wednesday viii May, 2013

Good morning all.

Prep: Shower, Arran Aromatics Lavender & Tea Tree Facial Scrub
Pre: Cold water splash
Brush: Frank Shaving Finest Badger Turnback
Soap: La Toja/Palmolive Mash up
Razor: Merkur 46C Travel
Blade: Sputnik #1
Post: Thayers Medicated WH, Zirh Post Shave Solution, Zirh Moisturiser
Fragrance: Sex Pistols EdP

Result: Very relaxing and enjoyable shave in a hotel bathroom heated to roughly the temperature of magma. It's taken me half an hour to cool down! This was my first shave with my frankensoap and I was mighty impressed. Lovely thick and creamy lather, reminiscent of how a good meringue looks prior to baking.

Have a good day, gents.
