I always find it slightly amusing when the shaving demo blokes on Youtube make a big thing about how many days growth they have, like its some extra challenge. I don't get that at all.

I know what you mean, depends on the razor though really, I find that open combs and slants prefer that longer growth and you actually get the better shave, I imagine your Feather is the same. Closed safety bars struggle with the length a bit when you go 3 days plus. I can't be doing with say, a Jagger DE series on long stubble, the gap is just too small, I think blade gap (where a gap exists) is key.

Anyway, Tuesday:

Rooney brush
Godrej deluxe cream
Merkur 34C HD
Gillette 7 o'clock green
Ogalalla bay rum lime and peppercorns

A really nice shave but a bit more touching up required compared with yesterdays shave with the OCMM.

Great picture as usual. You seem to be a bit of a vintage Merkur fan but I supose you just have a goodly collection of razors. I always drool over your vintage Progress with the really bold red numbering and the somehow nicer looking plastic adjuster.

I like the way you print the date - is this usual for where you come from or a personal quirk?

Anyhoo, all the best.

You're another one of these fabulous picture takers, Mikael. I am so duff with a camera :(.

Re: SOTD Sat 22th Sept to Frid 28st Sept 2012 ...

This morning:

Prep: Face wash, Imperial Leather bath soap, cold
Razor: Kinfolks Blue Steel Special, 5/8"
Brush: Neep #1033 soapstone ball and bobbin 24mm high mountain badger
Cream: Body Shop Maca Root
Aftershave: Prof Blighty's Green Ginger
Scent: Penhaligon's Blenheim Bouquet

This razor feels and looks incredibly tiny, but is a full 5/8 (I got the ruler out!). Perhaps not surprisingly, then, it felt very manoeuvrable and intuitive. Very very good shave.

Gillette Old Tech
Astra SP (3)
Semogue 1520
Proraso white tub
Witch hazel
Proraso blue balm

Floris JF

Superb razor, underperforming brush, wonderful soap, nice balm. Quite a few compliments for the JF this morning - they were no doubt confusing it with Davidoff Cool Water though! Anyway, I enjoy it.

RE: SOTD Sat 22th Sept to Frid 28st Sept 2012 ...

Scent from Heaven chocolate shaving soap
Schick I (I think) injector - nicked back from my wife who never uses it. This one:
IMAG0464.jpg

Schick injector blades - modern ones from US: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Schick-Injector-Razor-Refill-Blades/dp/B0011EH098 The price per blade put me off for a while but I thought, f**k it, all but the Personna ones are quite hard to find.
Escape-style a/s balm

Really nice. Very quick, easy and super-close. These injector blades are great; so much better than the modern Personna ones.
