Truefitt & Hill Pre Shave Oil
Art Of Shaving Super Badger
Simpsons Luxury Shave Cream
Filarmonica 14 Doble Temple
Nivea Replenishing ASB
Nivea Intensive Moisturiser
Floris 127

Yesterday I had a one pass with my Murker Slant & a Gillette 7 O'clock. Today was a one pass with the Filarmonica. Todays shave blew the Merk away.
What a great combination today, the Simpsons cream is top draw!

RE: SOTD Sat 22th Sept to Frid 28st Sept 2012 ...

Gillette Tech
Dorco (1)
Semogue 1520
RazoRock XXX
Witch hazel
Proraso white balm

Penhaligon's LP No. 9

No complaints with the Semogue tonight. It generated plenty of lather from the RazoRock for 5 passes if I so chose. It's still on probation but I wonder whether this is a signal that it's finally breaking in. The shave was a bit arduous and inefficient though. I was searching for a closer shave than I had managed after 3 passes so, for once, I kept on going. Result: my skin was no smoother yet somewhat rawer.

I'm starting to develop a preference for my open comb. Perhaps this is a sign that I should at some point in future explore straights...

RE: SOTD Sat 22th Sept to Frid 28st Sept 2012 ...

Hot soak and face wash with Bull Dog face wash
St James of London pre shave oil
Erasmic brush
TOBS lemon and lime cream
Merkur 25C
Treet Platinum blade
Three passes
A final lather applied and washed off
A hot wash with Bull Dog
A cold soak
M&S Harvard AS

A vey comfortable shave

RE: SOTD Sat 22th Sept to Frid 28st Sept 2012 ...

TOBS Shaving Shop cream
Fatboy (gold plated) on 5, 3 with Ming Shi, Jianyu and Ying Ji Li (all second use)
Boots Freshwood a/s balm (all gone now!)

I finished up these blades and managed a decent shave except for a few stragglers on the lower neck.

WEDNESDAY EVENING

Gillette HD Rocket - aluminium handle
Tiger blade (2)

Tried a less aggressive razor tonight. The Tiger still bit me though!

RE: SOTD Sat 22th Sept to Frid 28st Sept 2012 ...

This morning I decided shaving was old hat.
This morning I decided to try the shaving oil that I bought on eBay without shaving cream - a nice basic essential oil mix, sold as shaving oil, intended to be used as is.
This morning I flayed my skin off. What did the shaving oil achieve? A little bit of lubrication, but also it masked the pain until I washed it off. Ouch.

I followed that on my sore and tender skin with 3 passes.

So this morning I used a permasharp in the Muhle Grande , citrus zing shave oil, T&H Grafton shaving cream, aftershave balm, and then cologne.

Tonight, I decided to give my sore face a rest and then changed my mind. Of course.

Following a bath..
Hot towel for a moment or two.
GFT Violet shaving cream.
NF Tubby 1
Muhle Grande
Permasharp
Alum block for touching so that I can pull skin without it slipping
Followed up by Barbershop Bay Rum aftershave splash. Twice because I'm becoming addicted. It stung for a second or two, but all the bleeding stopped and the pain has mostly gone. Hopefully no razor rash tomorrow morning.

The end result? Well, my skin certainly wasn't smooth until the bay rum went on, now that it's gone on twice it is nice and smooth. There's still a touch of stubble in the usual spots, if I run my fingers against the grain, but possibly the least stubble I've ever had following a shave. Pulling my face all over the place with alum coated finger tips appears to be a success.

Tomorrow morning I won't shave. Maybe.

RE: SOTD Sat 22th Sept to Frid 28st Sept 2012 ...

Nice comfortable shave today.

Muhle R89
Red Personna (1)
Semogue OC Boar
Scent from Heaven Strawberry
Sudocrem

Pretty good stuff this soap, for smell and performance I would rate it slightly under the mama bears soaps, bit it's also far far cheaper which makes up for that. I almost didn't bother with the sudocrem.

RE: SOTD Sat 22th Sept to Frid 28st Sept 2012 ...

Thursday:

La Toja cream
Omega Silvertip
Gillette Aristocrat Junior
Feather (1)
Pinaud Clubman
LEA Balm

Nice shave. The Feather perhaps isn't my favourite blade to use with this razor as despite the Junior's small size I find it has quite a bite. Something like a 7 o'clock Yellow, which I find a bit smoother, is probably my favourite blade for this razor. A couple of small weepers but certainly BBS.
