SOTD Sat. 19th to Frid. 25th January 2013

After the arrival yesterday of a large box from France I was itching to shave today. I should perhaps have stopped at the 2 passes but I was enjoying the lather so went for a 3rd. That coupled with the 3rd shave with the Astra left me a little uncomfortable, very minor irritation. I may go back to the E45 moisturiser to see if it's the Astral causing it as I've changed a few things over the past few days.

Can feel a cold coming on so needed the pampering of warm lather.

Another good shave, though I can feel this blade starting to blunt. Might push it for one more and see how I get on.

Feeling very trip-hop this evening so here goes a quality shave to match it

Prep: Nice Hot shower and some Proraso Pre Shave Cream

Brush: Omega Synthetic with the Ovangkol Handle

Cream: Omega Creme de Barba

Razor: Merkur 23C

Blade: Polsiver Super Iridum (first time shaving with it)

After Shave: Old Spice Classique

Thoughts: Man is this razor sharp yet really smooth. I had some weepers and some mild irritation but an alum block and some aftershave handled that. It could have been some lapses in technique perhaps i have been spoiled by the mildness of the Derby Razors. But i did my standard "method" shave 2 WTG passes, 1 XTG pass, and a final ATG pass and i was instantly BBS. I mean with the Derby razors i can usually achieve smoothness but not like this.. it not only feels smooth but it looks smooth.. my wife immediately commented that i am smoother looking.. perhaps we have a winner for now?

Great shave, but I would expect nothing less from what is, (in my personal opinion) one of, if not the finest shaving safety razors ever made.

Lucky you, I had to slum it in a Premier Inn last night due to last minute availability. :( I now know why it had rooms available.

Decent shave. Never tried any Penhaligons stuff before and hear the newer shaving soaps aren't so good. Seems to lather well and smell is a nice, old school smell. Early days but hasn't blown me away but not disappointed me either.

Nice photo - it's a good job you didn't have the Adult Film channnel on in your room.

By the way, what is the 444 used with the Profs ASB?
