This morning:

Prep: Cold rinse
Razor: Le Grelot 5/8", in UKRob rosewood scales
Brush: Neep #1287 cobalt blue tulip horsehair
Soap: Trumper's West Indian Limes
Scent: Trumper's GFT

Virtually out of GFT. Need to decide whether to replace like for like or with Harris Arlington. Or both. Hm.

The horse brush is harder work than badger, but (for me) performs much better than either of my Vie Longs, which are now used only for ornament.

Thursday xviii April 2013

Prep: Shower, Arran Aromatics Lavender & Tea Tree Facial Wash
Pre: Proraso White
Brush: 404 Grosvenor "Bodger"
Cream: Miller Harris Feuille de Tabac
Razor: Merkur 46C Travel
Blade: Polsilver Super Stainless #3
Astringent: Thayers Medicated Super WH
Post: Zirh Post Shave Solution
Fragrance: Ogallala Bay Rum

Results: This week I've really made an effort to slow everything down and take longer slower passes. Result: damn fine shave and the Feuille de Tabac is proving to be an excellent cream with a sublime scent. This will remain in the travel kit until it's finished. Can't speak highly enough of the Bodger... I've given it a long run of use and it's now broken in, and creates oodles of lather.

Have a good day everyone,

Jon

This was my first use of Arko for ages. I was reminded how good it is, I swear you could lather this up just by looking at it! DFS!

Thursday

Gillette face wash
Proraso pre
Erasmic stick - face lathered
Personna vintage razor
Astra blue wrapper
Alum
Witch hazel
Pashina a/s

My second shave with this newly acquired razor which seems to perform quite well but got half way through the shave realised that I hadn't tightened the handle but actually whilst this felt a little scratchy and has left my face a bit sore it does seem that I actually achieved a pretty good shave!

Morning, all.

Thursday:

Prep: Claus Porto Lime-oil face soap
Razor: EJDE89 with iKon Bulldog handle
Blade: Gillette Super Thin (6)
Brush: Ecotools Kabuki
Shave soap: Monsavon
A/S: Pashana Bay Rum
Cologne: Woods of Windsor for Men

I used the Monsavon again this morning and got another great lather for a smooth, irritation-free shave.

weds evening

hot wash and flannel
ford and medley Arrow
BBR + gilette green
simpson brush
face lathered valobra
nivia sensitive asb
juniper sling to finish

used the straight to shift the 3 days or so of growth, then tried the x/atg and found it a bit of a chore, i think the lather was lacking, so used the de to finish. but i'm still a noob with the straight, so i'm not overly worried.

Wednesday evening

Razor : Muhle R41
Blade : Wilkinson Sword
Soap : Proraso Green tub
Brush : C&E Super Badger
Splash : Proraso

Better shave today but still not great - not been a good week so far. After 2 great weeks my skin seems to have become a horrible mess. Not sure what's gone wrong this week so far.

Cold shower
Haslinger Ewe's Milk Shaving Soap use like a shaving stick
Kent syntex brush
Feather SS w/ProGuard, ATG with 37c
Proff's Peppermint aftershave
Weleda ASB

Well, this soap isn't bad at all, although I was expecting more performance wise. Lather isn't as protective as Speick or Tabac's unfortunately, at least it's not as easy to get it to the right point. Aside from that, it's certainly good enough and skincare seems to be very good. Finishing off with Proff's all natural aftershave and Weleda balm was a real treat too.

P.S. this Kent synthetic brush officially sucks. Can't wait till my Muehle is ready.

Prep: N Spa Men face scrub
Cream: Crabtree & Evelyn Sienna
Brush: Edwin Jagger Chatsworth Ebony synthetic bristle
Razor: Edwin Jagger Chatsworth barley chrome
Blade: Personna platinum - 'red' label
Post: Crabtree & Evelyn Sienna post shave balm

A very smooth shave. Crabtree & Evelyn is not a bad product to use, with a very subtle fragrance, not overpowering.

After the usual 1-2 minute hot towel prep:

vintage rebranded Simpsons best
'Webly'/Wilkinson Super Sword Edge (NOS)
MdC SS
Boots AS Balm
Givenchy 'Xeryus' EdT (vintage juice)

BBS results,

Martin
