Thursday Morning

I'm giving the Chinese blades a little break, and followig on from another thread I decided to dig out the Fatboy and load it up with a Feather.
I had completely forgotten how mild the Fatboy is, I started with it set to 5, but soon put it up to 7 so it was useful. I may have gone too far as I ended up with a few weepers.

Prep: Hot Shower
Cream: TOBS Eton College
Brush: Simpson Chubby 2 in Best Badger
Razor: Gillette Fatboy
Blade: Feather
A/S: TOBS Eton College.

Rough Rough Rough

Mergress
Perma Sharp (1)
Semogue OC Boar
Palmolive cream
Sudocrem
Nivea Creme

went with a 3 on the mergress then decided to go to a 4 then down to a 2, looks and feels like I shaved with sandpaper.

Prep L'Occitane Cedarwood soap
Razor Vintage Maxotte
Brush Chubby 1 in Super
GFT Coconut Oil Shaving Cream
Alum & Witch Hazel
Clarins Moisturiser
Penhaligon's Castile EDT

Jamie

Perfectly smooth two pass finish.

After the usual 1-2 minute hot towel prep:

vintage 1964 Macys badger
'Webly'/Chinese Gillette Blue (thanks Benefactor Bob!)
Klar Kabinett SS
Barbershop Bay Rum AS
Penhaligons 'BB' cologne

Tried this new to me blade first in my Fatboy.......just ok. Not as sharp as I prefer, with a little tugging evident. Switched mid shave to the Webly with much better results as far as smoothness goes. I'll give it a try again and then go on to sample the other Chinese blades (Swordfish and Vulture) that Bob so kindly sent out.

BBS results,

Martin

Bulldog Facewash
Edwin Jagger DE89
Gillette 7o'clock super stainless day 6(!)
Vulfix "Grosvenor"
Arko shavestick
Old Spice Whitewater A/S

Lovely shave.

I've recently bought the EJ and think it's terrific: smooth but close shaves every day. If you're wondering about the razor blade, I swap a new one in every Saturday. They usually last well for the whole week- I once used a Derby that gave me great shaves for 18 days! I put it down to excellent prep and feeble bristles.

Hot shower
Proraso menthol pre-shave
EJ DE89/Weber Bullodog handle
Personna red (2)
EJ Best Badger brush
TOBs Sandlewood Cream
Clinique Post-shave soother

First time I've posted on SOTD... but it was a truly remarkable shave. Blades are excellent, but I've also found I needed to increase the shave angle a bit for a superb 2 pass irritation-free BBS
