Feather AC SS
Feather ProGuard Blade
Edwin Jagger Silvertip Brush

When you move from a ProGuard to a Pro blade, you notice a few differences. When you apply the reverse, those differences seem even bigger!

Friday Morning

Back to trying out different blades. This time it's the Chinese Gillette Super Thin from the NotTheStig pif.

I was expecting this blade to be basically the same as the Thai Gillette Super Thin I use on a regular basis, they are after all made in the same factory, both called Gillette Super Thin etc..

No, they are not the same at all.

The blade was definitely not as sharp as the Thai version, it was close but definitely not the same. It still produced a good BBS shave, but not quite as easily as I manage with he Thai ones.

Prep: Hot Shower
Cream: TOBS Jermyn Street
Brush: Simpson Chubby 2 Best Badger
Razor: Feather AS-D1
Blade: Chinese Gillette Super Thin
A/S: TOBS Jermyn Street

After the usual 1-2 minute hot towel prep:

vintage butterscotch Made Rite #74 badger
'Webly'/Chinese Gillette Blue (thanks Bob)
MdC SS
Barbershop Bay Rum AS
Esteban 'Tonka' EdT

Second shave with this razor/blade combo. This blade's a good one in the Webly. Not quite as sharp as the Iridium, but still much better than average.

BBS results,

Martin

Barbershop Bay Rum after a cold water rinse

TOBS Mr Taylor's cologne

The handle is here and what a fantastic piece of precision engineering it is. My first time with a Feather so I thought I'd skip the shim given the extra handle weight and said blade's fearsome reputation. Excellent smooth shave with BBS on cheeks and sides and DFS+ on neck woth no nicks or weepers and just a little irritation which the Rum sorted out. Going to try a red IP with the shim tomorrow. Man I feel good after that! :D

The handle is an absolute triumph and stands testament to Daz's immense skill. Made in Scotland from girders.....get one!

Worst shave of the week,
I always use an Astra SP in a new razor, so why not this time? face on fire, If there was an icon with a knob coming out of his head, I would use it in this thread :icon_lol:
