SOTD 13th - 19th October

Afternoon, gents.

I was in a hurry for work this morning so I chanced a one-pass ATG shave. I got a perfectly comfy and workmanlike result. Maybe I'm getting to grips with this wetshaving lark.

A good start to the week.

Prep: Shower
Razor: PAL Injectormatic
Blade: Personna Stainless Coated
Brush: Lijun Boar
Saop: Cella

Super BBS shave. I love this little razor but I think I might be in a minority, it seems many others don't rate them compared to Schicks. I do understand though, there were manufacturing errors on some models.

Regards
Dick.

If that's the one I'm thinking of (white plastic corrugated handle, gold head, no fancy features) then I like it but find it a little too aggressive for its light handle. Vicious little bugger (it, not you!) What were the manufacturing defects? Maybe mine has one?

3P Pre Shave
O Mehlor Shave Cream
EJ89
Bolzano Blade
Kent BK4
Witch Hazel Gel.

Nice Shave. Shave cream very good. The blade was new to me and worked
well with the EJ .The brush i am finding a little on the soft side but that
might be because i have been using boar and horse brushes lately.

Monday 15th October

Hot Shower and facial scrub
3P Pre/Post shave cream
Feather Artist Club SS
Semogue Caravela Badger/Boar Brush
L'Occitane Cade Soap
Alum Block
Organic Shea Butter
Lilac Vegetal
Morgan's Classic Pomade

2 Pass DFS+ shave

Wilkinson Sword stick
Henk silvertip walnut brush
Red Tip Super Speed
Gillette Swede, 2nd shave
Old Spice White Water aftershave splash

Decent shave. Red tip seems to slice through stubble very easily (first and second pass) but struggles to get me a very close shave. Single edge razors are the same for me (not the injector kind)

Proraso pre-shave
Proraso soap / Kent BK2 / Face lather
EJ DE89 / Polsilver
TOBS Mr Taylor's Aftershave
Boots no. 7 Balm

First time out with a polsilver and I was both impressed and daunted by the blade. It felt pretty flipping sharp and produced a good, close shave but it also left me feeling scraped close and a bit irritated. I don't usually end up feeling like that after a Feather shave, so I'm not altogether sure what I feel about it.

Looking forwards to tomorrow and an effort to make my mind up!

Merkur 34c HD
Bolzano Superinox (1)
Vie Long 13061
Palmolive Classic cream
Witch hazel
Proraso Crema liquida dopobarba

I've been using my vintage razors for so long that my Merkur was feeling neglected. Not the greatest of shaves. The blade was dragging and I suspect that was down to the lather. The one thing that stops me from reaching for Palmolive cream more often is that the lather I produce from it is never slick enough.

fatip piccolo
english wilkinson sword
shavemac #25 silvertip
truefitt and hill trafalgar cream
mr taylors gentlemans AS
boots no7 post shave balm

a decent shave. first time in a while with the fatip, and im coming to the conclusion its not for me. its the jimmy saville of my razor collection, it looks flamboyant yet still ugly and i always feel like ive been used when ive shaved with it.

MONDAY EVENING

Gillette Parat
Feather blade (1)
Nannys Nutmeg Spice hard soap
Semogue 1305
Witch hazel
Castle Forbes AS balm

Very nice shave tonight, albeit with some very minor irritation which I often seem to get from a Feather blade. Strange.

This morning:

Prep: Face wash, Imperial Leather bath soap, cold
Razor: ERN 13/16"  "Crown & Sword", extra hollow
Brush: Simpson Duke 3 in two-band best
Soap: Martin de Candre
Aftershave: Prof Blighty's Yellow Ginger
Scent: Trumper's GFT

As I expect with my second-tier razors (possibly only so due to needing a touching up), the first pass on two days' growth tugged rather, but the end result was good.

I used Monsavon on Saturday, a similarly-scented French soap available everywhere for pennies. MdC is a little nicer, I think, but it ain't forty times better, in honesty. Monsavon may be the biggest bargain in wet shaving.

I like the Avatar, Gravy!

After a hot shower:

JEC 'Big Rocket' Handle with vintage 7 O'Clock NEW style head
Feather blade (2)
Jagger super badger brush medium
Trumper's violet cream (big thanks to Pavlovsdog)
Barbershop Bay Rum
Astral
D R Harris Arlington cologne

A rather good shave indeed!

Tuesday Morning

Prep: Hot Shower
Cream: TOBS Mr Taylor
Brush: Simpson Chubby 2 Best Badger
Razor: Feather AS-D1
Blade: Gillette 7 o'clock SharpEdge (3)
A/S: TOBS Mr Taylor

I think I have found what is for now my ideal Razor and blade combo. Another superbly pleasant shave, very very close and yet no irritation, not even on my neck.
