After the usual 1-2 minute hot towel prep:

1958 Executive/Feather
Surrey SS (pre VDH reformulation tallow version)
Lucky Tiger AS and Face Tonic
Roger and Gallet L'homme 'Sport' EdT

BBS results,

Monday

Mühle R89
Personna IP (4)
NF 2211
Nannys Citrus Zinger
GFT Coral Skin Food
GFT Moisturiser

I don't normally get on well with soaps including Nannys. Even today I had to reload the brush after the lather disappeared on my face for the second pass. The end result was great, just a 2 pass shave, plus a few touch ups and BBS.

Monday - Sigh on the late shift this week

Hot towl
Gillette Fatboy (Setting 2)
Feather double edge razor blade
Pure Badger Shaving Brush
Blue beards revenage shaving cream
Alum
Witch Hazel (distilled from Boots chemist)
Trumpers skin food (Sandalwood)
Blue beards revenage aftershave balm.

Nice relaxing to pass shave (WTG & ATG) after a nice soak in the tub.

Whiskers came off nice and easy even with a weekend growth.

Left me nice and BBS and feeling fresh and clean. :shave

Mysore Sandalwood soap
Merkur 34C-HD
Gillette super thin blade
Simpsons Chubby 2
TOBS Sandalwood cream
Alum
TOBS Balm + Propolis
TOBS Eau de cologne.

I think you can see a kind of theme going on here ;) yes you guess it TOBS and Sandalwood, anway it's a bit like Marmite to some people, you either love it or you hate it, no sitting on the fence with Sandalwood, but I have always loved the scent of Sandalwood, very enjoyable shave, 2 pass shave with a little swish here and there, BBS.

Jamie.

Some new kit today, I have acquired an Edwin Jagger DE89LBL. Otherwise the shave was thus:-

Prep:- Hot shower

Music:- Radio 2, Simon Mayo

Soap:- MWF

Brush:- Edwin Jagger Silver Tip Badger

Razor:- Edwin Jagger DE89

Blade:- Gillette 7 O'clock Yellow

Post shave:- Alum block and Aloe Vera

1x WTG, 1x ATG 1x XTG

Excellent shave, although I seem to have missed a tiny bit on my chin

The EJ really is a lovely razor though, the quality is excellent. I'd recommend it to anyone. ;)

Wore Trumper's sandalwood cologne today. Likey.

Tonight:
Hot shower
Trumper's Sandalwood, bowl lathered
New Forest Tubby 2 brush (second use)
EJ DE89, Boots blade (4)
KoS balm

Lather just exploded out of the brush at the start of the process, and I gave it a minute or two of mixing and gradually adding water to end up with something fabulous-looking in the mug and on the brush. On my face, though, slightly unconvincing, and the second and third passes worse. Still haven't got the hang of a pure badger brush, it seems. Back to the Mantic vids, I guess.

Fortunately the EJ is so benign that it could probably be used latherless - another quick close easy incident-free shave.

Monday Evening:

    • - Gillette Adjustable razor; 2 passes & polish-up on '6'
      • * Slim, U. S of A.-made, H3 birth-season machine[/list:u]
        - Rainbow Super stainless blade (Day 4 and resigned)
        • * 2nd pass was a bit draggy, laggy, saggy & baggy - well, draggy at any rate[/list:u]
          - Nanny's Spearmint Cooler soft shave soap
          • * plenty cool & refreshing stuff - might just be my fave FrostyShave nowadays[/list:u]
            - Vie Long 12705 horsehair brush
            • * basically my 'go to' brush[/list:u]
              - MICAlum stick
              - Urban Hermit's Black~Pepper~Mint witch hazel
              • * Thayers' Unscented but scented with EOs[/list:u]
                - Floid (Spanish) Genuine Suave ASL[/list:u][/list:u]

                SotD06-06-2011-004.png

                • @ Konstantinos: thanks considering my shaky grip on the camera (& reality) much of the time[/list:u]
                  • @Jamie: Never opened and played with? I could never do that, even if it was my area of interest.
                    • Then again, when we were kids, we rolled toy vehicles down "the hill" - 'driven' by GI Joes (and such like)
                        • - soaked in gasoline
                            • - with lit firecrackers.
                                  • ... and we were the good kids in the village.[/list:u][/list:u][/list:u][/list:u][/list:u][/list:u][/list:u][/list:u][/list:u]

Simple shave tonight.

EJ89
Asco (3)
Nanny's Lime
Spanish Floid Vigoroso.

I have made great progress with the troublesome bits under the jawline, thanks mostly to persevering with Chrisbell's suggestion of gently stretching the skin upwards to make it easier to hit the target. I suspect I look a little like Mr Bean during this but it really works.

I have also noticed that when I don't apply alum and witch hazel, I don't get the razor burn on the neck. Bizarre, possibly coincidental.

Any roads, a simple, easy and enjoyable shave, back with the EJ after three shaves with the Gillette Slim Adjustable with a Bleue Extra blade. Both superb razors, both quite unique. Thankfully I don't have to choose only one :shave :shave

Next shave, testing the Super Thins in both razors on alternate shaves.
