S.O.T.D. Saturday 9th March to Friday 15th March 2013

Prep: Cold Water Splash
Razor: Aristocrat #15
Blade: Supermax Platinum #2
Brush: Neep 26x48 Stone Extra Silvertip
Soap: Lea Stick
Post: Proraso Menthol Post Cream
AS: Speick Splash

Nice shave, really liking the way the #15 shaves, i'll have one more shave with it before it is sent for a replate.

WEDNESDAY EVENING

I think I'll use the forum template too!

Prep: Hot flannel
Soap: Woodhead suribachi filled with odd ends
Brush: Simpsons Hive
Razor: Gillette Slim Twist
Blade: Personna 74 (2)
Balm: Castle Forbes AS balm

Face is feeling a bit raw, but very smooth. A couple of weepers too.

Still not impressed with the Hive. Not sure whether to flog it or persevere with it for a bit longer. I do love it's looks, but the performance (for me at least) is sadly lacking.

Evening, all.

Wednesday:

Prep: Claus Porto Lime-oil face soap
Razor: Yuma
Blade: Supermax SS (5)
Brush: Vulfix "Grosvenor"
Shave soap: Bath House, Spanish Fig and Nutmeg
A/S: Pashana Bay Rum
Cologne: Mama Bear's Dragon's Blood

A good shave and warm, rich scent on a cold day.

Working from home and the baby asleep, so the rare luxury of an unhurried midweek shave today:

Prep: Bulldog facewash
Razor: Futur, about 1.5 setting
Blade: 7 O'Clock green (1)
Cream: Ingrams
Brush: SOC cherry 2-band
A/S: T&H Trafalgar
Moisturiser: Cowshed Bullocks

Although it seems to lather well in the bowl, I can never get Ingrams to give me anything but a thinnish lather on the face. For all that, it did its job just fine. First menthol shave of the year, and there's still snow on the ground.

I treat those blades like a Feather. Great in a mild razor, with amazing longevity (at least for me). Matter of fact, I'm gonna use one of those when my current blade goes south.

Now it's been maybe six months since I last looked on ebay for vintage blades of any kind. A few days ago though I just for the hell of it did a little search for some Wilkinsons, Personnas, and things like that. The average price for a Personna 74 DE blade was between $3-4 each. Pretty crazy eh?

Superb. A day and a half since my last shave and 1 pass with the slant and Bleue had me looking presentable. Two passes got me a DFS but the start of some irritation and I knew I could get a better finish so used the Tech and the same blade and managed a BBS

This morning:

Prep: Cold rinse
Razor: Joseph Allen 6/8" Extra hollow ground
Brush: New Forest High Mountain Badger
Cream: Taylor's Lemon and Lime
Aftershave: Prof Blighty's Yellow Ginger

Very good razor now Rob's sharpened it up for me :).

Greetings

Thursday 14th March 2013
Prep: Shower
Razor: Wilkinson Sword Empire Model
Blade GEM Stainless Coated (modified)
Brush: Shaving Factory Boar (Med.)
Soap: Palmolive grated + Palmolive Cream + Glycerine, Ãœberlather
Aftershave: RSC Balm

My first shave with this new 'toy' and a very good shave indeed. The odd rolling screw style guard is a little strange but works fine, I found with the razor adjusted to it's most aggressive it scraped a little and on the mildest setting would only just cut, right in the middle seems about right. The razor is very head heavy and a little angle sensitive but first impressions are all positive and for £4.65 delivered from e-bay it has to be a bargain!

The amount of quality engineering in this razor (in the main to facilitate stropping wedge blades) is amazing, what on earth would something like this cost to produce today?

Regards
Dick.

A scruffy wooden handled badger brush that I have yet to identify but performs beautifully.

Second go with the artist club.
No nick's or cuts. Good result, with more practice I can see this being stunning.
It did struggle a little to get through the hair as easily as Tuesday leading me to fear I won't get double figures of shaves per blade, but we will see. Most of that might be my technique.
Minimal Alum sting today as well. :)

Morning, all.

Thursday:

Prep: Claus Porto Lime-oil face soap
Razor: Yuma
Blade: Supermax SS (6)
Brush: Vulfix "Grosvenor"
Shave soap: Mitchell's Wool fat
A/S: Pinaud

The Supermax is still doing me proud.

Not been feeling too good again so sat at home. Couldn't resist getting a shave - I'm glad I did! Face feels really good.
