S.O.T.D. Saturday 9th March to Friday 15th March 2013

Preshave: hot water and soap face wash
Brush: men-u boar from boots
Soap: morrisons savers tallow soap
Razor: nanjie butterfly razor, minor modifications
Blade: personna Israeli from morrisons
Post shave: cold water

I know it's all cheap stuff, but I find that it all works for me to get a close shave with no nicks or irritation.

After the usual 1-2 minute hot towel prep:

vintage rebranded Simpsons best
'Webly'/Iridium
RL Safari SS (NOS)
Boots Freshwood AS Balm
RL 'Safari' EdT (old juice)

Man, this old soap is one I could easily use every day. Gotta be the easiest soap to lather up, resulting in a thick protective coating of wonderfulness. Smells really good too, if you like the original Safari fragrance (which I do).

BBS results,

Martin

Gold Fat Tech on one side of the face, Progress on the other - this time kept at 2 throughout.

Testing a Polsilver for Dobbo. Got a decent shave. Gently does it. Not BBS but still very good.

This morning's shave was:

GFT Lime Skin Food (to be donated to my brother-in-law as I still don't get on with it)
Speick Soap (not to be donated as it's fab)
Kent BK2
Gem Clog-Pruf / Gem Coated Blade (3rd use)
DR Harris Marlborough
Boots No. 7 Balm

A very close shave but a couple of weepers on my top lip after the ATG pass. Blade definitely getting smoother with age, but not yet as smooth as a DE.

If I fail to get on with SE shaving, it's going to be blades rather than razor that are the problem.

Friday:

Vitos pre-shave
La Toja cream
Semogue 2012 SE
Aristocrat Junior
Gillette 7 o'clock SharpEdge
Witch Hazel
Blue Stratos AS
Nivea Anti - irritation ASB
L'Occitane Baux EdT

Off work today so had a late shave once I'd dragged my arse off the sofa. A lovely shave it was too.

Prep: Cold water splash
Soap: MWF
Brush: M&F Blonde Badger
Razor: Polished Weber/Bulldog handle
Blade: Personna Med Prep (1)
Post: Thayers Cucumber Witch Hazel, Weleda After Shave Balm
EdT: Lalique Hommage a l'Homme

Gentle 2-pass shave today as I'm trying to eradicate some neck irritation that has manifested itself in the last couple days. Maybe the cold weather and heated interiors are to blame...

Afternoon, everyone.

Friday:

Prep: Claus Porto Lime-oil face soap
Razor: Yuma
Blade: Supermax SS (7)
Brush: Vulfix "Grosvenor"

Friday

Prep: Hot Shower
Soap: Floris JF
Brush: New Forest Tubby 2
Razor: Feather AC SS
Blade: Feather Pro Guard
A/S: Floris JF
Cologne: Floris JF

Second shave today with the Feather and a big improvement. I've been practicing my technique without a blade in the razor which has helped me understand how to hold and position the razor. I also used my left hand today.

No photo today as I have no broadband so can't upload photo without a lot of hassle.

Prep: hot shower
Brush: Pensoftheforest/Neep extra stuffed silvertip in Kenya Soapstone handle
Razor: Klas Törnblom, Ekilstuna Sweden
Soap: Nannys
AS: La Toja Manantiales
Strops: Neil Miller
Result: Very, very clean :D

Nice blade and shave, Nannys new soap's really nice too (slick and very nice for straight razor shaves).
