A wonderful lather from the Wicstun today built up on the Face with the X1 Commodore.
A nice audio soundtrack from the razor and a wonderful, close, comfortable finish in 2 passes and touch-ups.
Stay safe and enjoy your day All.

Changing it up a bit.
Face wash with La Toja Magno.
AylM Buttero
Cheap Haryali badger
Pearl Flexi #3
GSB on 2nd outing
Bio oil and Tabac AS

The Flexi is out because I loaded a GSB to show someone how it aligns on mine as they had issues with theirs but mine is normal. I like this razor and of course the blade is one of my favourite.

The brush is pretty much what you would expect for a few quid. I think the knot is very cheap badger, probably a high % of cut tops which makes it a bit spiky. It's also quite small. I like to get it out now and again to see if it breaks in. It's not that bad or good tbh but it looks OK and does the job in the rotation. I also chose it for the Buttero because this is a very odd soap. It doesn't make a thick volume of lather, it's mainly coconut oil and stearic acid. It makes a creamy 'slime' for want of a nicer word, and so long as you hydrate it properly you get great slickness. You have to give your brush a good wash after, so I use this brush. The smell is slightly odd, leather and saffron, which grows on you. I don't reach for this combo all the time but its enjoyable and I got a decent result. Tabac is just a nice comforting familiar scent.

Have a good day.

Soap: Arko Stick

Additional Care: Wife Sniff Test = Not Too Bad At All

Late shave (for me) today as I was up and out at 5.30 to catch the rumoured fog for some woodland photography. You guessed it, no fog. Still, had a happy couple of hours wandering the woods doing photography.

Went a bit old school barbershop today. Arko face lather, and blue theme with the 1956 Gillette blue tip, Gillette blue blade and of course blue pre and aftershave. Might do the same tomorrow but all red.

Leaf Razor/London Bridge x3 - Somersets Shaving Oil - Old Spice Whitewater AS

A strange set up today.A little agitated as later I have my first ever Consultant appointment. Despite having had a long career in the NHS...I don't like visiting a doctor. I have always said that if I hit the ground....I want to do so with a surprised look on my face! It's not serious but I just didn't feel like putting much thought into the shave.

Well ...I got what I wanted.....an excellent but soulless result in 2 passes...and as I am away for the weekend....an opportunity to try the shave oil. It was quite good actually.

Razor Henkels & Friodur 472
Aftershave Stirling Iced Pineapple Splash
Wonderful quality soap! Lovely refreshing scent and cold...nicely matched with the splash...
How could I have forgotten this excellent razor for 2.5 months...dang! Today's shave with it was very pleasurable...the bellied edge so soft and comfy. 3passes for a ccs-sas finish without any issues...

Wednesday

Gym session at 06:30 to start the day, so pre shave was my shit and shower so that I could complete the 3 S's with my shave.

I loaded a feather blade with a single use into the blue flare tip and decided I wanted to use the Stirling fan brush, so I grabbed a Stirling soap that I've not used in a while.

I've had a top notch shave, finished off with the Campania splash. BBS and Mrs D says that I smell nice too.

Now, I suppose I should get some work done! Have a fab day everyone

Signature Soaps Hibernia splash

The EJ DE89 worked its magic again to give a very comfortable and very close result. The stainless Razorock UFO handle feels very natural with this head, not too heavy. The Cadman brush is wonderful and created a super lather with the PAA soap, and the Hibernia splash was the icing on this particular cake.

Couple that with the good looks and there you have it a exquisite tool.
The ridges on the top cap look as if they would be uncomfortable. Do you find them distracting during the shave?
No not in the slightest, very easy to use and find the angle, you could use the ridges to help ride the cap if needed. Honestly I can’t find anything bad to say, I didn’t think I’d like the thicker handle but I do.

Grey and rainy day in West Sussex but a really uplifting and smooth shave with my Schick Eversharp Golden ‘500’ to compensate.
I had previously fitted a synthetic knot to my Edwardian silver brush, as when I bought it the brush part was pretty much non existent and made the brush unusable. It was a bit of a challenge to avoid damaging the silver handle as the neck diameter is only about 16 mm and the smallest knot I could find was 18mm but with after some careful fettling I’m happy with the result. It has a nicely balanced feel and spread the Apothecary 87 shave cream beautifully, keeping up a good lather from a small amount used with occasional dabs of water.
The usual elegance of Schick injector razors is ever present especially here in the 500 and it’s storage case. It has a small lever that enables the head/blade assembly to loosen up without the blade falling free in order to clean it after use. A great idea and wonder why this model seems to be the only version I’m aware of with this useful mod. Maybe some people found operating the lever too much to think about early in the morning?

Have a great day fellas!
