Thanks dodgy. I am going to give it a whirl next shave. Any blade recommended?

Try it with your favourite blade up to now. You will have a base to work from then.

I will try it with a 7 Oclock yellow as I have had the most success with those.

Jim

Sounds like good advice from Brian. I like those Gillette blades quite a bit myself, Jim.

3P
Simpsons Commodore X2
Wickham southsea
Digress on 1.5, 1.5, 1
Gillette Green (1)
Witch hazel
Juliyet Lemon Cologne
Myrsol Emulsion

Don't like the southsea scent it's like laundry detergent. Glad it's only a sample.

Pre: Proraso green pre-shave cream
Soap: QCS "Celestial Woods"
Brush: California Redwood Burl handle, 24mm TGN Finest 2-band
Razor: Gillette Red Tip
Blade: Gillette Silver Blue (4)
Post: Thayer's witch hazel, followed by Fine Clean Vetiver

First time with a Red-Tip. Simple 3-pass BBS with no drama.

Shower
Arko Stick (Grated into a vintage Imperial Leather pot)
Kent Infinity Silvertex
Every Ready 1914
GEM Super Stainless [4]
Hot Rinse, Cold Rinse & Alum Wash
Imperial Leather Aftershave (Vintage)

Face Lathered
Two Pass - WTG & XTG

I love vintage juice! Chaps back then wanted a whole different thing from aftershave than we do today ... I like it how it was.

Sweet shave!

This mornings shave:
Wickham Super Smooth Club Cola (bowl lathered)
Shaving Shack Buccaneer best badger
DE89 with Templ8 custom ss handle
Polsilver SI
Myrsol f/extra
Nivea Coolkick ASB

3 passes. Not the smoothest finish on the neck, but very comfortable shave.

Pre: Soap and water wash, Proraso pre.
Soap: Prof Blighty's Sandalwood
Brush: Vie-Long
Razor: Gillette Slim Adjustable (set to 3)
Blade: Gillette 7 O'clock Yellow.
Post: Alum, Nivea balm.

First time with the adjustable, incredibly close shave but some irritation which is down to the new learning curve and poor technique and also one nick under my nose which I think was caused by the end of the blade. I maybe was applying too much pressure. Also I don't usually shave every day as my beard grows so slow, so this being the second straight day of shaving probably didn't help.

Having a break tomorrow to let things settle then will try again Saturday morning. I am happy with the result but could do better.

Jim

Thursday

Mitchell's Wool Fat
New Forest Tubby 2
GEM OCMM
GEM blade
TOBS Mr Taylor's AS

A great shave. Two passes and a bit of tidy up left a nice finish.

Thursday

Pre: cold water splash
Soap: Proraso Sensitive
Brush: Semogue 620
Razor : Merkur 42 head on a Braveheart handle
Blade : Polsilver SI

4th shave with this blade, first one pulled second a bit better, but third and forth have been really smooth but closeness dropping off.

Time for a change I feel.

Have a good Thursday

Paul
