Anyone read any Cormac McCarthy? I recently started Game of Thrones but had a tip off that the McCarthy stuff is excellent.

He's an excellent writer. The writing can be quite dense - but it is always beautifully structured.



Currently I am reading - Choke by Chuck Palahniuk

It's a Garda procedural and has it all... sex, violence, travellers, cross-border action & not too high a body count (so far)

Just finished Diaspora, by Greg Egan, which absolutely blew me away - I need to examine his other work now.

Now reading Blindsight, by Peter Watts. So far, very, very interesting.

"Cause for Alarm" by Eric Ambler.

Good old school, European prelude to war, politico-thriller written and set in 1938. For me Ambler books are all taut and unputdownable.

Read (amongst others) Robert Charles Wilson's "Spin" trilogy while away. Very good *indeed*.

I'm slowing down... finished Last Rituals last evening (actually this morning) - not sure what to read next from my epic pile of both books & ebooks.

Just finished "Zoo Station" by David Downing. A British journalist in pre-war nazi Germany gets caught up in the goings on.

Reading "The Lotus Eaters" by Tatjana Soli. This one is about a female photographer in Vietnam during the war with America. I'm about a 3rd way through and it still hasn't grabbed me yet.

I've just finished "Fatherland" by Robert Harris, which I thoroughly enjoyed and I've now started "The Next Moon" by Ewen Southby-Tailyour and Andre Hue.

I seem to have picked up a Rebus by mistake, "The Naming of the Dead". Got a feeling I might have read this one before. Mervyn Peake will have to wait a little longer.
