SOTD Sat August 4 through to Fri the 10th

Prep:Hot shower
Brush: Semogue SOC
Razors: Otto Busch + GEM Junior for head
Super lather: Nannys Yushu + LEA Menthol cream
AS: Mennen Skin Bracer
Strop: Neil Miller
Result: Very clean :D

Lovely little 4/8 razor in Magnet Stahl (it attached itself to the frame of the vintage mirror/lather cup setup) :D, however I did nick myself, in two places... I think these small and very hollow straights can be touchy re the angle (that's my excuse anyway and I stand by it :)).

Greetings
Tuesday 7th August 2012

Prep: Shower
Razor: GEM Junior Fat Handle
Blade: Modern GEM Coated
Brush: Burma Shave/Lijun Boar
Soap: GZD Stick pressed into a container
Aftershave: Wilkinson Sword Sensitive Balm

The GEM Junior is a new acquisition and it is NOS, it shaves very nicely but I now feel that three 1912 Ever Ready/GEM's is enough, especially as the three I have all seem to shave identically! I forgot, I won one the other day on E-bay for 99pence and it is on it's way, childish really, couldn't resist a bargain, I was the only bidder perhaps others spotted something about it I didn't!

Regards
Dick.

Yesterday:

Prep: Face wash, Imperial Leather bath soap, cold
Razor: Kropp 6/8", ivorine scales, restored by Jamie
Brush: New Forest Tubby 2
Soap: D R Harris lavender
Aftershave: Prof Blighty's Yellow Ginger
Scent: Trumper's GFT

Good.

Today:

Prep: Face wash, Imperial Leather bath soap, cold
Razor: Myers & Son 6/8" hollow ground
Brush: Simpson Major in best
Soap: Pre de Provence
Aftershave: Prof Blighty's Red Ginger

Brush is JUST big enough for three passes. Gonna see how well it dries wiped and then retracted. Nice.

I thought I'd do a topical double SOTD pic.

Pre Prep + Tati Peppermint-Spearmint + New Forest 2213 + UFO U2 "Long" with Gillette Tech head and Astra green #3 + Proraso splash with LEA balm

A good shave with the lovely scent of this cheap artisan soap. By the way, I have change the Feather Portable head by this Gillette Tech and it works better in my face, more confortable. It's curios, because when I use its original smaller handles is the opposite thing.

Cheers!

Pre shave - Arko
Razor - Muhle '11 R41
Blade - Polsilver
Brush - GOSH Heritage
Soap - Mike's Unscented
A/S - Boots Witch Hazel gel followed by Tabac A/S lotion

I've finally got my head around Mike's Unscented Soap... fantastic, leaves my skin feeling great. The Polsilvers are a great shave, but the Astra's are still top dog with the Muhle, still haven't found anything as smooth for the R41. All in all a DFS. :)

Proraso Pre/Post (Original formula)
Ikon S3S
Treet Platinum (2)
Muhle Silvertip Fibre 21mm Horn
Cella Crema Da Barba
Nivea Cool Kick balm

I'm weak and after trying Vitos soap I had to get some Cella and see how I got on with that too. I don't need to buy any more soap or cream for about 3 years now….yeah right :)

I'm really liking these Italian soaps.

Edwin Jagger DE 89
Gillette Blue Super (from China)
Franks Saving Badger brush
Kool Monsoon cream (from Bangladesh)

Loving these Gillette blues sharp and super smooth. Three passes and a very close shave!

St. James Founder's Reserve cedarwood and clarysage cream. Finished the jar.
Schick Krona with Polsilver Stainless (3rd use)
Professor Blighty's Universal Shaving Balsalm, Tuxedo
Aramis

Close shave but again blade feels draggy in this razor. Don't think I've had a blade that didn't. Still gets a good result but makes the process less enjoyable. Will retire this razor now.
