SOTD Sat 9th Feb - Fri 15th Feb 2013 (one of several?)

Greetings

Monday 11th February 2013
Prep: Shower
Razor: PAL Injectormatic
Blade: Schick Krona Edge 1960's
Brush: Burma Shave Boar
Soap: Wilkinson Sword Stick grated into a container
Aftershave: Nivea Sensitive Balm

A little 'tuggy' these old blades but they give a good result if less pleasant getting there. I don't know if they are carbon or stainless, I have discovered from an advert they were released in 1961 but I do not know for how long they were produced.

Regards
Dick.

Nanny's French Lavender Hard Soap
Semogue 2012 SE
Ever Ready Streamline
GEM Blade
Witch Hazel
T&H Trafalgar AS
Nivea Cool Kick AS Balm

Lovely cold water shave, BBS results.

Proraso pre original
Omega 37 Boar
Trumper's GFT SC
Feather SE blade
Valet VC2 OC autostrop razor
Thayer's superhazel
Endymion AS balm

I finally gave the Valet VC2 a whirl. Aggressive bugger. My razor got all gummed up likely due to glue on the blade. I'll need to wipe it off next time. After a great 1st pass, my 2nd pass seemed odd - cutting would suddenly cease and the razor kept getting all gunky.

I also used the Omega 37 boar for the first time after having broken it in a little previously.

A reasonable shave in the end but with some minor irritation in the neck region

This morning:

Prep: Cold rinse
Razor: J. A. Henckels 72 1/2, 6/8"
Brush: Simpson Tulip T2 in two-band Super
Soap: Palmolive stick
Aftershave: Prof Blighty's Rosewood

Half-term, so a late shave of three days' growth and off to see the dentist. Thought I'd pull the Palmolive out to make sure I wasn't talking rot in the recent thread about it; it was fine, as ever, and uninspiring, as ever.

Nice push button GEM you've got there, your right to be careful as they take a bit of getting use to,nice straight razor

Cheers John! :) I bought it with 5 other SE/DEs, I've got one Micromatic too, that looks pretty aggressive too... I'm going to push through a blade with this one first and then try the Micromatic, but I really like this push button model.... Need to find a new head shaver, after I dinged my GEM Junior.

Prep: Face Wash with lukewarm water
Soap: TOBS Jermyn Street
Brush: Morris & Forndran Blonde Badger
Razor: Weber POL/Bulldog Handle
A/S: Thayers Cucumber Witch Hazel, Weleda After Shave Balm
EDT: Sport de Paco Rabanne

First 'pseudo cold water' shave. Cold water out of the tap was freezing today, so compromised! None the worse for it. If anything, my face felt less flushed when done. Might give this cold water lark another try...

Hot shower
Hot flannel
Irisch Moos cream scuttle lathered
Simpsons Emperor 1 super badger brush
Edwin Jagger DE87
Gillette 7 oclock Indian green permasharp (2)
Cold rinse
Witch hazel
Irisch Moos aftershave balsam

Comfortable shave today, changed razor to DE87 from yesterday but same blade. An Irisch Moos shave today. A part of todays delivery of goodies from Connaught. Irisch Moos a nice scent I like it. The balsam soothing and moisturising but not greasy.

Hot flannel
Proraso pre, white
Simpson Colonel X2L, Speick shaving stick
Gillette Slim (4), Rapira Swedish (3)
Cold splash, alum block
Clinique post-shave healer

Man of the match goes to the Simpson/Speick combination... lovely lather
Own goal to the Slim... for some reason I just can't get the hang of it since I got my Fatboy!!! Just too many touch-ups required
However, five minutes later and it's all feeling smooth and hardly any irritation at all... must have done something right... think the Speick saved the day.
