SOTD Sat 9th Feb - Fri 15th Feb 2013 (one of several?)

Couldn't resist the Penhaligon's English Fern lather again
Edwin Jagger 'tortoise shell' boar
Progress on 4, 2, 1
Rapira Platinum Lux (second shave) / Permasharp Super Stainless (vintage Scottish, third shave)
M&S Woodspice a/s

Ditched the Platinum Lux - not a a bad blade but was expecting more. Superb lather from the soap again. This Permasahrp still working really well for me. Hopefully get one more decent shave out of.

After the usual 1-2 minute hot towel prep:

vintage rebranded Simpsons best
vintage Merkur slant/Schick Plus Platinum (NOS)
Lentheric SS
Boots AS Balm
Dior 'Eau Sauvage' EdT (vintage juice)

First time trying this old silver plated razor, which is the same as a Hoffritz I believe. I've used razors like this before with good results and this one worked out well. I need to go a little slower than usual and pay a little more attention to detail, but the shave itself is still comfortable. This is one effective whisker whacker.

BBS results,

Martin

England, I was pretty impressed by the home made blade - then I read that your strop is also home made - well, I'm impressed beyond words.

Great picture as well.

Prep: Hot shower
Brush: Simpson Cubby 3
Razor: Magnet by D Peres (most likely, his trade mark on the other side of the tang) + GEM
Soap: Nannys French Lavender
AS: Blue Floid, Italian
Edt: Paco Rabanne Ultraviolet
Strops: Neil Miller
Result: Very, very clean :D

First go with this GEM (for head) and it's one aggressive SE razor, blade is exposed like crazy and it almost feels like half the blade is outside the cap that holds the blade. IU like it though, but I was very careful :D I love these scales too, Neil Miller made them in leopard wood :D :D

Nice push button GEM you've got there, your right to be careful as they take a bit of getting use to,nice straight razor

Today's shave

Merkur 39C Slant Bar
Feather Blade
Kent BK8 Brush
NSS French Lavender soft shaving soap(Face Latherd)

2 days beard Riped off my face with out mercy

For the last two days I've been working on a guitar project (a futurerama Strat) it's been on going when I get the spare time, for about 9 months now, complicated by the Chinese odd sizes of parts, every thing has to be modified to fit  :mad::mad::mad: still never mind. What I've ended up with is a vintage vibe stratocaster :icon_biggrin:

Cold shower
Proraso pre/post
Speick shave stick
Turkish boar brush
Feather SS w/ProGuard for general mowing, Flair tip Rocket w/Astra to finish up
Myrsol Lemon AS
Rene Kern ASB

Excellent shave. Although boars have yet to convert me - badgers and synthetics are simply way more effective. Still fun to try time to time. Loving Myrsol as well - great morning after shave (if you're into face freeze, of course!).
