SOTD Sat. 4th May to Fri. 10th May 2013 ...

Proraso green soap, old formula
Henk walnut silvertip
Schick M adjustable with Trac II
Fatboy on 4 with Super Iridium
Paco Rabane EDT

Good result although the Trac II blade finally blunt after I think seven shaves. Like the EDT a lot. A simple and somehow timeless smell.

THURSDAY EVENING

Prep: Hot flannel
Brush: Semogue 1305
Soap: Klar Kabinett - suribachi lathered
Razor: Gillette Sheraton
Blade: Rapira (1)
Balm: Witch hazel and Wilkie balm

Unsurprisingly, this shaves very similar to a Popular.

Which is great, as they're one of my favourite razors.

Another pleasant addition to the arsenal.

Yep, pretty much a Popular head stuck on a 1940s type superspeed handle. Personally I prefer the 1934 type Aristo head over those other two. They look similar teeth wise, but they're different shavers.

Proraso Week Day 5

My last day of Proraso week. Lather consistent as ever; touched up with a drop of lavender essential oil.
The long-handled OC Merkur is so friendly to use. A mild razor toughened up with a shim gives a really comfortable shave indeed. I'm surprised it's not more popular and I would think it ideal for beginners.
Farewell use of this razor before it gets cleaned, sterilised and shipped off to Manoflamancha of this parish. It will be missed but gives me an excuse to go shopping again.

Result: Feel-good DFS

Friday x May, 2013

Good morning all.

Prep: Shower, Arran Aromatics Lavender & Tea Tree Facial Scrub
Pre: Cold water splash
Brush: Frank Shaving Finest Badger Turnback
Soap: La Toja/Palmolive Mash up
Razor: Merkur 46C Travel
Blade: Sputnik #3
Post: Thayers Medicated WH, Zirh Post Shave Solution, Zirh Moisturiser
Fragrance: Sex Pistols EdP

Result: A second morning of the new prep method (allowing the lather to rest) and I can report that it continues to impress as does the La Toja/Palmolive frankensoap. I've got a few weeks of concentrated hotel stays so this will, I think, be a pretty constant shave menu for the foreseeable, at least during the week. I'm going to try and sort out a few more photos etc...

Happy poets day....

Jon
