Great razor... which blade did you have in?

First use of this razor having received this base plate yesterday. Having tried a lot of iKons and found them all too mild, the only one I like is the Deluxe Open Comb. I have heard the New Standard Head is even more aggresive.
WOW, it's an animal, this is one very aggresive razor. I would have to put this on a par with the R41. I wasn't expecting that. The result was an exceptionally close 2 pass shave, almost BBS. My face couldn't take an ATG pass.

holy crap - on a par with the R41!!! No wonder it was a little too much for me.

WARS
Vulfix Bodger

I find WARS a very good cream. Surprising how nice a Supermax shave feels after a couple of weeks using up various Treet and Dorco blades! BBS

Wielding the feather took my mind of my migraine for a while :-/

Prep: King of Shaves face scrub - the newer bright green one
Brush: Edwin Jagger Chatsworth Ebony synthetic bristle
Cream: Body Shop maca root
Blade: Personna 'red' label
Razor: Edwin Jagger Chatsworth Barley chrome
Post: Edwin Jagger sea buckthorn after shave lotion.

A nice pleasant shave. The EJ post shave lotion is nearly running out after 7 months. Not bad for a 100ml dispenser. It's losing that distinctive sea buckthorn aroma, so this may be a result of the ingredients settling over time.

It's a neighbour's 50th birthday today, and we are all going out later, so I did 3 passes, WTG, XTG (R,L), XTG (L,R).

Good afternoon gents.

Prep: Nivea Sensitive Face Wash with cold water
Soap: T&H 1805
Brush: Neep 28mm Extra Silvertip
Razor: Polished Weber/Bulldog handle
Blade: Astra SP (1)
A/S: Thayers Cucumber Witch Hazel, Weleda After Shave Balm
EDT: Pen's Opus 1870

Used an Astra SP that I found in my blade stash today. Not the closest shave in the world, but comfortable and irritation-free. Sometimes it's just what you need!

My 2P's worth about this razor. This razor is aggressive, but so long as you apply some thinking to your equipment choice, and take your time it can shave your face well.

blade choice for me is a wilkinson sword, I tried a feather but they are just to delicate for the R41, I also noted that for me face lathering works best, but not with a scratchy brush, worth thinking about that ( the razor is aggressive enough so why scratch your face up some more with your brush?)

The one thing I can say is the R41 didn't give me any irritation just a few weepers and a small cut and smooth shaves, so If you are thinking of trying one... good luck:icon_razz:

After the usual 1-2 minute hot towel prep:

vintage rebranded Simpsons best
'Webly'/ Wilkinson Super Sword Edge (NOS)
Surrey SS (pre VDH reformulation)
Boots AS Balm
No EdT for some reason

Tried a new puck this morning.......one of the NOS ones I received yesterday. This is an old old version, similar to one I had been saving for quite a while. I have to think this stuff has tallow in the mix, which is a good thing, and the soaps are smaller and much harder than the later made ones. Very nice!

BBS results,

Martin

Prep: Cold Water Splash
Razor: FaTip Weber Bulldog Handle
Blade: Supermax Super Stainless #2
Brush: Neep 26x48 Stone Extra Silvertip
Soap: Lea Stick
Post: Proraso Menthol Post Cream
AS: Speick Splash

2 pass cold water face lather shave.

The blade was very tuggy from the first pass, if only these blades were available, i'd bin them after the 1st shave every time, instead of after 2 shaves like i do every other blade.
