St George's day shave

sotd23413.jpg

Warm shower using Droyt's Original glycerine soap Made in England
DR Harris Arlington cream Made in England
Steve Woodhead scuttle Made in England
New Forest silver tip brush Made in England
Gillette Superspeed Made in England
Vintage Permasharp Made in Scotland
Cold rinse
Witch hazel Made in England
DR Harris Arlington aftershave Made in England

Apart from the Scottish made blades an all England shave today very patriotic  a couple of small weepers on my neck :icon_evil: but soon stopped with the cold rinse.

Brian

Those blades are made with Yorkshire steel ;-) Thornton and Ross is in Yorkshire as well if I am not mistaken, Linthwaite near Huddersfield. My home Town and my Mum's old employer.........

I was short a few items to make it a complete St. George's shave, but did what I could...

Prep: Glycerine Soap, Cold Water
Soap: D.R. Harris Windsor
Brush: M&F Blonde Badger
Razor: English Fat Handle Tech
Blade: Personna Lab Blue (1) [no English blades or ASB. I'm ashamed...]
Post: Thayers Cucumber WH, Weleda ASB
EdT: Pen's Opus 1870

This morning:

Prep: Cold rinse
Razor: Ford & Medley 7/8 wedge, palm wood
Brush: Neep #1059 soapstone chubby 26mm super silvertip
Soap: Cella
Scent: Penhaligon's Endymion

Tuesday 23rd April

Prep: Hot shower, Dove Men+care Face Scrub
Brush: Omega 10065
Cream: TOBS Rose- Suribachi Lathered
Razor: EJ89
Blade: Personna Lab Blue #2 w/ single shim
Post: Alum, Witch Hazel, Sierran Breeze ASL

Very good shave, single pass ATG with a few touch ups left me with a DFS, didn't push further. No irritation, very comfortable. I believe though now that the Rapira Swedish Supersteel may be slightly ahead of the Lab Blues now though, as they seem to get closer without the touch ups, and maybe slightly smoother. There really isn't a lot in it though, both are superb blades.

Didn't have the brush to go for a true St. Georges day shave, so I didn't try :icon_razz:

St George's Day Shave
Gillette Belmont De-Luxe
Vintage Eversharp blade
C1 Butterscotch Pure Bristle
C&E Sweet Almond Soap
Elixir Aloe&Sandalwood Balm
Mr Taylors A/S

A great combination to use which resulted in a very splendid 2 pass BBS i should use the De-luxe more often but thats what happens when you have so much choice it was nice to break out the sweet almond soap such a great soap to use if only it was still being made...

Kropp 5/8"
New Forest Tubby 1 finest silver tip in Tigris Perla
Mitchell's Wool Fat Shaving Soap
Witch Hazel

Although I only used this blade and brush a couple of days ago I've brought it back for my St George's day Shave, I'm pleased to report that even the witch hazel passed scrutiny as it was made in huddersfield.

TUESDAY NIGHT

Prep: Hot flannel
Razor: Stahly head with UFO Godzilla handle
Blade: Rapira (2)
Brush: Simpsons PJ 2 band
Cream: GFT Sandalwood cream - scuttle lathered
Post shave: Witch hazel and Proraso balm

This head is very vocal, which I like and the 'rollers' work really well too. I can see why Dodgy likes it so much.

Today's shave

Gem G Bar
Gem Blade
Kent Bk4 Brush
TOBS sandlalwood shaving cream
Geo.F.Trumper Sandlalwood SkinFood
Blue Stratos

Results BSS WTG

Two days beard ripped off my face, love the G Bar it's a keeper

TUESDAY NIGHT

Razor: Stahly head with UFO Godzilla handle

Hey buddy what's goin on,

I would think that head would perform especially well, being stuck on the Godzilla as it is.

So I was watching your adventures with the Cobra and after a bunch of shaves it looks like you got her tamed pretty much. Nice one! I guess you'll be trying other blades with it as well. Seems like the best starter ones would be the Pro Guard versions......yes? Otherwise it looks like the road's a little rougher with some of those other blades.

I'm glad the Cobra is probably gonna end up being a good fit.

I like to think this fellow would use one:

It's nice, but it can't half bite if you're off your game.

The Stahly is a nice change of pace. Shaves really easily and gives excellent results. What's not to like?

St Georges day / Birthday Shave

Razor: English Gillette #58
Blade: English Wilkinson Sword
Brush: Simpson Duke 2 Best
Soap: TOBS Jermyn Street
Aftershave: TOBS Jermyn Street Splash

A lovely birthday shave :)

I have two questions though

1) Is the #58 a rocket or aristocrat? it's like a HD rocket with a fancy handle
2) Where can i get 50-100 of these blades for a reasonable price?

cheers
Steve

Last Night's (22/04)

Razor: Joseph Elliot 6/8
Razor: Red Tip Superspeed
Blade: NOS Scottish PermaSharp
Brush: Shaving.ie Silvertip
Soap: Pal-mic + Proraso Red
A/S: Home Made batch

Result: Great shave with the straight. Touch up with Red tip was a bit rough, but I did go for a 4 pass in total.

Today's:

Prep: Hot Water Prep
Razor: Red Tip Superspeed
Blade: NOS Scottish PermaSharp
Brush: Chinese 24mm Pure
Soap: DR Harris Windsor
A/S: Home Made batch

Result: Amazing shave tonight! The DR Harris is fantastic - one of, if not the, best soap I've used so far. The Red tip performed beautifully as well.

Ingrams with fresh linen fragrance oil
Edwin Jagger boar
Rotbart 20 with vintage English Wilkinson Sword (2)
Boots Freshwood balm

Lovely. Just made up a small container of Ingrams to try the oil in. I put a little too much in so the scent was quite strong but I think it will work with Ingrams' own scent nicely.

If you can see a razor picture in my SOTD for today it's nothing to do with me!
